UTA struggled to get past Dallas Baptist at home. Guard Marquez Haynes went for 30 and will be the guy to key in on. Guard Brandon Long chipped in 14 and forward Tommy Moffitt had 12.

Gone (thankfully) is forward Anthony Vareen who was pretty much unstoppable last year at the Pit.

UTA has very little size...Moffitt is undersized at the 4 at about 6'5"...their other 3 bigs (Trey Parker, Jordan Reves and Ishmael Awange) combined for 33 minutes, 4 pts and 1 rebound. Their top 8 scorers from the DBU game were all 6'5" or under.

UTA went 6 for 26 from 3.

We need to win because five of our next 7 are on the road, and this appears to be one of the most winnable ones on paper.

gone are the days of the huge forwards in the paint...it's athletic guards and small forwards that will probably do most of the scoring this year. I think this team will have to shoot the 3 well to win games this year--no more passing it to Vereen for an easy two + a foul. Will be interesting to see which lineups we use against bigger teams this year. For next year we've already signed a 7-footer out of the San Antonio area, which will give us 4 guys 6'10 or taller.
