I don't usually yell, but I had it with those refs. At least we got the W, all that matters. I can see why they're getting a new arena...jesus.

Just got home. Great game.

I hope we play them every single year.

That was fun. Congratulations on a nice win.

As far as UTA, I was OK with what I saw tonight. I didn't think we'd win 20 games, but we should be able to compete well enough to earn a spot in our conference tourney by the end of the year. Our defense looked pretty good--we made UNT work pretty hard on a lot of possessions. We played a pretty young lineup tonight. A lot of freshmen/sophomores got major minutes tonight. Our 6'10 center Parker didn't play tonight--guessing injury? Not sure. That was a pretty small lineup we went with a lot of the night once our freshman center Reves fouled out. I wish the refs would have let the guys play--we got a lot of fouls on minor stuff early, but then UNT started getting called for everything in the second half. #10 looked really good for ya'll. Good luck in the Sun Belt. Great to see a lot of UNT fans at the Hall tonight--that was a great atmosphere--both teams' fans were making lots of noise on every possession it seemed. Can't wait until next year.

Agreed. Great atmosphere and a very exciting game.

It sucks that someone had to lose the game... But it's nice that it was you guys, for a change. :)

Just got home. Great game.

I hope we play them every single year.

I wish we'd play them twice every year like NMSU does with UTEP and New Mexico, and always schedule the games on Saturday nights.

Having opponent's fans at the game adds so much to the game atmosphere. I wish the two schools would each let the others students in free with a student ID.

Include away games at each others schools as part of the season ticket package.

This game can become quite a rivalry once UTA gets their new arena built.

And....I wish we'd do the same thing with the other two division 1 schools in the metroplex. The Tobacco Road rivalries were not made by schools not playing each other, that rising tide raised all ships, and so would local rivalries benefit all four area schools.

First trip to the stage. Interesting. The only problems I had with it was the small aisle behind one side of the court which was the ONLY artery of traffic getting from one side of the venue to the other. And ONE concession stand. Other than that, very unique place to play.

I like UTA's pep band's spirit, but they need A LOT of work. The ONLY chant they had was "Sit down coach!" At times it seemed like they were yelling at their own coach.

And if the retards driving the PoS white coupe on Greek Row past the NT students chanting "UNT sucks!" read this. You guys should be expelled from the university. If a team just beat you, dont tell them they suck. It really makes your admission standards look lower than a junior high prep school.

Good game. We need to fall out of love with the three, stop making German pastries with all of those turnovers, and practice free throws. I haven't seen that many missed free throws since the Chick Fil A free throws at the end of NT home games in the early 2000's.

Oh, and there should be a mini tourney at the start of every season with NT, UTA, SMU, and TCU.

We shot 15 three pointers. I believe the average per team last year in a game was 17. And we played a Double OT affair, so we were actually quite a bit under the 17 in 40 minute mark.

We shot 77% from the line tonight. Not great, but hardly terrible.

Got home a bit ago. What a great, great game. Double overtime???? Did we really have a 57-30 advantage on free throw attempts? One of the more memorable Texas Hall games for me, ever. It was great to see Wendell Williams at the game as it brought back some memorable great games for me of his era as well.

It has never ceased to amaze me the team the UTA coach has been able to put together, all the while having to recruit to that place, then succeed, and against us for the most part. The new arena is going to be magic for him.

We have a good looking team but I still don't see the suffocating defense I've always wished for. Way too many turnovers in the first half. Hopefully we build on this game. It was tough. I don't know if the heat in the place was on or if it was just the crowd but it was very stuffy and warm by the end. Especially while holding a 5 year old that gave out by the start of the first overtime. I know the guys must just have been absolutely exhausted.

We had 4 students who showed up in their underwear, all painted up with wigs etc. The one wearing the Sombrero got escorted out after halftime. One guy next to me asked what in hell were they doing dressed like that and I just reminded him, "Well, any school that is currently having a vote on campus like we are....well, what can you say?". He just laughed and shook his head. Tasty will probably post a photo some time later.

Great win, well worth the trip.

Our D scares me. UTA did a great job on D in the first 10 minutes of the game, we couldn't shake them at all. Why did the sombrero guy get escorted out?

Yeah, but you know how it works, you only remember the misses, especially in crunch time. You're right, 77% is really good for college. As far as the 3's go, maybe only Holmen needs to lay off of taking so many. He looks like he is going to be awesome when he clicks. His athleticism is pretty incredible.

Wish we could have seen more of Knox tonight, but he probably will only get a shot to prove himself in blowouts. I came away impressed that we had 2 freshmen in there at crucial times, and they both held there own. Alzee looks like another great late pickup, sort of like hogans was. I found it pretty impressive that they put him on their best player, and told him to shut him down.

I really wish that we had landed Haynes, damn he is good.

Holmen played a LONG time while carrying four fouls. I wanted to bang my head against the wall when he shot that three... But the way he handled foul trouble showed tremendous maturity.

Great game, guys. Congratulations.

I couldn't make it, so I kept track by reading the postings on this board. Thanks. (Amazing technology in our hands.)

This series has ALWAYS been crazy and sometimes unpredictable. I'm glad to hear indications of its renewal. It would be nuts not to. Yes, it would be a great idea to get the two small private schools involved in a tourney with us. Makes a lot of sense, but rationality does not always prevail in these matters.

Hope to make to to Denton next year for the game.

P.S. Congrats on the stadium-approval. HKS is the best, so you will get an exciting and first class design. I will want to come to a game and check it out when done.

very fun game! This was my first trip to UTA and the stage. We did get seats behind the team on the top row of the bleachers. That reminded me alot of the Snake Pit game last season. From our standpoint, it was awesome. The crowd in the seats were a non-factor to getting into the game. Personally, it was a terrible venue unless you were sitting in the bleachers. The game itself was a blast to be apart of. Congrats to the team and coaches!!! Way to stay with it and finish! Go Green

That was my first game at the Stage in about 16 years. The need for a new arena is so evident, so I won't go on about it. Just glad UTA is finally getting an actual arena for basketball. Great game and the crowd was defintely into it big time. Why the private schools cannot see this on any level is completely beyond me, but it is what it is. After a great game, between two large universities in the Metroplex that ended around 10pm, I expected to see some coverage or a mention on ANY of the 4 networks during their sports reports. Nothing, nada, zilch. It really frustrates me--when TCU and SMU play each other, no matter their record, they get TV coverage. You can't say that the two teams are spares either, because they have both been to the NCAA tournament in the recent years, unlike the two privates. Heck, we have won 20+ games for the last 3 years. Maybe I missed something on the sports coverage--very possible, but I tried to watch all four and saw no footage, nor heard a mention from Hansen, Scruggs, Laufenberg, or Doocy. I just don't get it.

Great game and rowdy crowd. Hard to believe that there were only 1400. Wouldn't want it as our venue, but I kind of enjoy the novelty of going to a "stage game" every once in awhile. Definitely a different experience. As far as the game was concerned, we've got to work on our interior defense. They were getting to the hole almost at will, and out hustling us on the defensive boards late in the game. If Haynes wouldn't have gone 10 for 27 we would have been in deep trouble.

Kudos to the Mean Green faithful. I thought the turn out was good for UNT fans...any thoughts on how many were there... 200, 300?

I'd say 300 at the very least. The south 30-40% of the bleacher seats were green, and there was a pretty good scattering of less vocal Mean Greener's on the balcony side of the stage. Pretty nice turnout, which I hope will be indicative of some good crowds in Denton. We've got to beat Okie State!

If it would have been televised, I think there would have been a mention on the local broadcasts. No video = No mention.

Really a high energy game. Considering that this game was pretty much the Josh White show, he's obviously in incredible shape to have gone full speed like that in the second half without it affecting his shot too badly. Fatigue may have contributed to his turnovers, but that guy played like he really wanted this game. Although Holmen did a nice job for a freshman, not having Tramiel in there during crunch time probably hurt our interior defense/rebounding a bit. Looking forward to Saturday.

That is a weak excuse--a score can still be given, even as a last second mention, without video, especially as the sportscast ends. Nothing, though? Someone has to answer this for me, or at least attempt to.

The score can be given, but they didn't want to run it. In fact, not a single major nightly news broadcast in the country ran a mention of the game at any point (at least according to the monitoring service I just used). The scores were out there and disseminated to the local contacts, but no one wanted to work it into their broadcast.

If enough people asked why, they might reconsider the stance, but the 10 of us who would speak up are barely a blip to most of them.

P.S. An Oklahoma TV crew did mention that OSU hosts North Texas on Saturday at the end of their college segment, so we got that going for us. We should send that station a fruit basket.
