Please see my post and others under the topic "Unbelievable" started by UNT90....A GMG.Com "world championship" basketball game has been proposed...I am OK to try to get it together as the admin...see the post...let me know if you are interested in playing/coaching/refereeing/helping with the admin stuff.

Yes, it's open to the ladies of GMG.com too...we'll make it a co-ed team event...more fun that way when the ladies smoke the guys who think they are so very "jordan-esk". If we have enough players from both sexes we can have a men's women's co-ed event...who knows...endless possibilities, but it is up to the GMG.com folks to commit or not. Post here or on my PM site and I'll start getting a list together and let everyone know....

If you are Out of town and have a date or two in mind..let me know as it is "harder" for you to get here than those in the DFW area.

Are we on? Can we do this? Yes, we can....OK, we'll see if we can...

Geez, not any others out there interested? Even if you PMed Kram, let your interest be knownst here so others won't think they are alone.

Intrigued, but not likely to be free to do this any time soon. I also don't think my endorsement helps anything.

Depends on when it is and if i can find another excuse to come home for. I used to have a decent mid-range jumpshot, decent dribbling skills with my right hand(serviceable with the left) and hustled on defense(gotta move those feet!). I'm pretty slow, can't jump, and am slight(thus don't ask me to fight for boards - I'll get killed).

But I haven't played in years, I'd probably be pure garbage now instead of middling to decent.

My team the UNT Intramural basketball championship in 03 and 06(06 team actually won the NCAA Intramural Championship held at North Carolina without me.) It should be noted though... I was both the only white and under 6"2 guy on the team and very seldom unleashed on the court. I've gone from hiting the REC four times a week to not touching a ball in 2 years. I might should leave the J's in the closet.

Ditto. I have decent height, but I would guess that no one wants me to shoot (take my word for it). I can play some reasonable defense though.

I'm your 6'6" defensive specialist. Just don't let me put the ball on the ground. It will go off my foot. I'm interested in this, but doubt seriously I can make it. Are we looking at any particular time frame?

I am interested and I know I can wrangle up at least 4 to 6 more people from the board and UNT in general. Pink Funk YES. If CBL will make the trip for this game I am MORE than in, I will pay for his flig..... Rudy's BBQ afterwards....

OK, looks like we might have enough to play a GMG.Com BB Shootout. I'll start looking into locations around campus and some dates...I will also PM folks to get a "solid" commit...some of the responses here do not really say "yea or nay", and if we are going to do this, and front the costs involved...folks need to yea or nay for sure...given unforeseen things happening later...I get that.

For the "out of towners"...any better time to do this. I am looking at perhaps a March date...you know, March Madness and all that...

PLEASE let me know. This could be a great way to have a game and then an after-game food-fest!

Who wants to coach? We will need 2 coaches who will be willing to draft players when the time comes...any takers??????

      If I was Coach Hodge, I would have this blown up and posted in the locker room. I would tell the players that this is what people think of you and we need to go out and dominate every team defensively until people start putting some respect on our name. Then when people do start to put some respect on our name, we need to dominate teams some more to leave no doubt.

      Some are arguing on their board about who's better between Yale and UNT. They really can't get past the UNT loss. I really want to get poporn and make an account just to let them know we've finished higher than MN in NET every year since 2020.

      I think this is a cop-out. He’s been doing this crap since the beginning of his tenure. The first memorable time was against Navy last year on the first drive of the game from the 1. If in the 5th game of year 1 he was already feeling like he needed to score every drive because of the defense, that's an even bigger problem. I think not having a reliable kicker or punter is the main problem. He went for the points a few times early this season and it didn't work out. Same with some punts that just don't do a good job at flipping the field. I've mentioned in other threads that special teams has also been a problem. Evans is 89th in the country in average punt yardage. We have to have a short kicker and a long kicker. Who the eff does that at this level? That's two coordinators that Morris flopped out on. I'm just waiting on us to move on from Svobada at season's end. Was looking over his profile and I didn't know but he also has Tight Ends this year. Where have the Tight Ends been lately??
