I don't recall a lot of folks bitchin' and moaning when TD was hired with a 5 year contract. Yes times change, but the posters on this board seemed to be overwhelmingly in favor of TD and the terms of his hire.

folks were happy unt was hiring a record winning coach. folks would be happy with td at unt if he was winning same, but he is not. it is all about the winning or losing. this is not a for better or worse relationship that goes on forever.

If you really want to do it (coaching fund), all you have to do is call the UNT Development office and they will setup an account that you or anyone can donate to. YOu just have to sit down with them and agree to what the funds are intended for.

Non-arguments all the way around.

1. A new coaching fund would get the administration and coaches attention.

-the fund isn't a buy out fund, its a signing bonus of a new coach

2. Giving to the stadium fund or volleyball entrenches the current unacceptable coaching situation.

-one of the reasons DD was booted was he didn't rally the fan base and significantly increase giving to the program.

Now back to the original question, what can we do to set up a new coaching fund?

Right they would set it up and then let it sit there empty waiting for someone to do something with it. Apparently they think that someday the thousands of alumni that they didn't develop a relationship with in the first place will spontaneously get an idea that North Texas having a terrible football program is unacceptable, despite the longstanding acceptance of it.

Hey, I didn't say UNT Development was good at their job or that this coaching fund was a well thought out plan. I just want to see if Shaft will really do it.

I don't believe that it is the stated goal of the program to have 4-5 next season.

And you don't need a secret inside source to know that the AD expects the team to be competitive this season, meaning no more record blow outs.

Trust me, you can go talk to same people in the SID's office and I would assume that the same story will be told to you, too. If that wasn't the stated goal for next year, why would you say it to a MEDIA MEMBER? Most idiots can usually understand this, but I guess this one is going right over your head. Maybe when you go to the AD to get that new coaching fund started, they will give you these facts. We all get that you loved Dickey--I figured he must have had at least one fan that didn't mind hearing him call fans MFers and go on an on about UNT being the worst job in America, so congratulations on being "that guy". The deal isn't that Dodge is better than Dickey, which seems to be your argument. It is the fact that NOBODY has had success here because we can't afford to pay coaches serious money and the apathy that runs rampant here keeps expectations low. You seem to think money grows on trees. Either you really are Mattress Mac, which would make sense based on your posts, or you have never taken one finance course in your life. People think that we can't afford to lose fans around here--I think that's wrong. The more I read your posts, the more I think that you are a troll or that you should walk away before the insanity causes you to do something criminal.
