Sbc Vs Mac Attendance

I was reviewing the 2009 attendance figures to date for the Sun Belt and comparing them with the Mid-American Conference. I compare with them because we are ususally considered as competing for the 10th spot of the eleven FBS conferences.

In the overview the MAC is ahead. Their 43 home games have drawn 828,806 or an average of 19,275 per game. However, the two largest attended games were played at a neutral site with the MAC team designated as the home team. Miami drew over 41K for their game with Kentucky and Toledo a whopping 71,727 for their neutral site game with Ohio State.

The SBC has had 23 gome games with a total attendance of 423,278 or an average of 18,403. Our leader, Middle Tennessee, has averaged alsmost 26K albeit in only two games. StAte has had more than 20K at each of their two games. North Texas and Louisiana are averaging above 20 thousand. FIU and ULM are below the 15K mark.

Yes, I realize that ULM and ASU have also pulled this tactic as well but it appears that the Belt has now surpassed the MAC in both power rating and attendance although the margin is still thin.
