I noticed the spread on the game started at UNT +17.5 and has since moved to UNT +20.5. Is it just me, or this too many points? I think we can keep this thing competitive.

We have our back up Quarterback which in theory would lower of point output. And our defense in undeniably better than last year, but still prone to mistakes and giving up big plays at very inopportune times. If everything goes right, we certainly have the ability to win. But everything must go right!

But , last time we went to Troy and got 7 turnovers and still lost 45-7 :(

True, but we had no resemblance of a D-1 defense. It doesn't matter what you do if you can't stop the other team's offense.... turnovers will make a difference in this game in my estimation.

7 turnovers and 7 points? Looks like we had no resemblance of an offense. As I recall, Geo spent the evening looking at the Alabama sky.

I will be shocked if we score 14 points in this game. Troy's defense is very good, again, and we are playing with a back up QB. Running the ball will be the key. No running game, and this could be a shutout.

Corrected my own post.

For me, the outcome is simple. Whoever wins the turnover battle, wins the game.

To be honest, I don't see this as a winnable game. Not only would we have to win the turnover battle, but those turnovers would have to directly result in points (e.g., pick 6), and we would have to play above our heads in every facet--offense, defense, special teams. Maybe the sun will shine on us today, but I just don't see it. Keeping it within 2 touchdowns would be great.

If I'm wrong, that would be some mighty tasty crow.

If I had any desire to bet, I'd take those points in a second.

Yeah, Troy is good, but this is a team that lost to Bowling Green (convincingly), beat Arkie State by 3 (basically what ULM did), Beat FIU by less than two TDs, beat UAB at home by less than two TDs (the same UAB who lost to SMU - at HOME!), and lost to Florida (who hasn't really put up points against anyone else) by half a hundred.

They had a nice 24-pt. win vs. Middle, but that's the abberation right now.

I don't mean this to put Troy down at all - they should win the Belt, and they should win today - probably comfortably. My point is, this is not some juggernaut some here are making it out to be. We SHOULD NOT BE BLOWN OUT IN THIS GAME. Period. End of story. Some people I've talked to are treating this like it's freaking Alabama again or somesuch. No way. If we don't cover the spread, this is a major, major letdown.

Let me start by saying I do NOT wager on UNT games. Trying to avoid getting screwed by betting with my heart instead of the brain. Anyway, with that line jump, I would probably take the points. It's not like we're going from Mike Vick to Jared Lorenzen at QB. I think Tune has proven he's a very capable QB. I would take the +20. I would not have taken +17.

This Mean Green football team could easily be 3-2 or even 4-2 if it not for few key turnovers or botched plays. Granted that this is what losing teams always say. Nonetheless, our 1-5 record is not reflective of the quality of players and accomplishments that have taken place this season. If we play fairly mistake free football, Troy will have all they can handle.

We lost so many heartbreakers, especially the Ohio game

Well, my analysis sucked. We got blown out pretty bad with limited turnovers, at least, before I fell asleep during the 2Q...I don't know how we fared after that... I haven't turned off a Mean Green game ever, but that was too much to bare. Very disappointing.

Troy put in their scrubs, allowing us to score 2 more TDs than we would have. Of course, scoring 4 TDs, we miss 2 PATs. How can one area of a football team continue to be so bad for so long?

I was asking myself that at some point yesterday afternoon; it does seem like SOMETHING that could get figured out and fixed. I see it as kind of a twist of the knife from a self inflicted wound.

See it was like Alabama.....at least we made Troy look like them. In fact, I would even say yesturday was WORSE than Alabama.
