For the record, I'm a fan of small ball. Viva la National League!

Me too, where managers actually have to manage the game and where pitchers actually have to hit...you know, actually play baseball. But, alas, the Cardinals got swept. No joy in Mudville for the rest of the season even through the "U.S. Series".

Maybe the next hitting coach will teach something other than the six run homer as his version of situational hitting. Ron Washington's "small ball" and Rudy's philosophies just didn't mesh.

For the record, I'm a fan of small ball. Viva la National League!

Good - you'll see better baserunning in the AL these days anyway. Outside of 3 guys on the Phillies and a guy or two on the Dodgers, you won't see much running the rest of the way.

Baseball Prospectus had some good stuff on this the other day, but it's from my subscriber-only section, so screw all of you.
