Just goes to show that the rest of the world saw his greatness, now if the right side of the aisle in his own country saw the same thing.
Could you please explain in an unbiased, bi-partisian OUR PRESIDENT's parrallel path to former president Carter.

Sure. Let's start with foreign policy. Carter thought that if only the rest of the world knew that we had good intentions, they would like us. Carter thought that by talking to enemies and giving them concessions, they would understand that we mean them no harm and would reciprocate the behavior toward us. Carter thought that limiting missiles in Europe would encourage the former USSR to do the same.

Pres. Obama's policies are exactly like those of Carter, from removing missiles in Europe, apologizing to the Arab World, demanding oncessions from Isreal, to being open to dealing directly with Iran and N. Korea. Same basic premise that Carter took toward foreign policy.

These all sound great in theory, but fail miserably in practice. When you have enemies that want to destroy you, and nothing you can say or do will change their minds, offering concessions will only strengthen their resolve and give you the appearance of weakness in their eyes. Dealing through strength is the only way to deal with these types of enemies.

Domestically, Jimmy Carter was the most liberal American President ever elected... until Pres. Obama Even Carter realized Govt. run healthcare was a loser. But, Carter did think that the government was the answer to a recession, increasing taxes and social programs. That led to 20% interest rates and 12-15% inflation. Talk to an non-partisan economist, and he will tell you that the path we are on now and with the proposed social programs coming to pile on top of the debt and deficeit, there is no possible way that inflation and interest rates don't increase. Pres. Obama's proposals are Carter x 10, which is extremely scary. There is less room for error, thanks to the debt we are already in (thank you, so-called conservative republican party), and his social programs dwarf those of Carter.

That is it in a nut shell. Do some research on Jimmy Carter, and you will be astonished at the similarities.

If nothing else, I can honestly say, I feel safer when traveling internationally now than I did before.

My sister in law is Jewish, born and raised for a bit outside Netanya, and she used to fly home to see relatives twice a year. She sure won't now, said its a lot more dangerous now than ever before. Just her opinion from experience, take it for what its worth.

JayDub...you are so right, in just a few months in office Mr. O has won "peace throughout the whole world". So, when is your flight to North Korea via Iran? Just wondering...since it's so safe and all that.

Times Online: absurd decision on Obama makes a mockery of the Nobel peace prize.

Rarely has an award had such an obvious political and partisan intent. It was clearly seen by the Norwegian Nobel committee as a way of expressing European gratitude for an end to the Bush Administration, approval for the election of America’s first black president and hope that Washington will honour its promise to re-engage with the world.
Instead, the prize risks looking preposterous in its claims, patronising in its intentions and demeaning in its attempt to build up a man who has barely begun his period in office, let alone achieved any tangible outcome for peace.

I hate to spoil the surprise, but I'm releasing a book through Random House about the modern political culture.

It's called "Lame Play on Words!: Post-colon subtitle that engages in shameful hyperbole and/or consists of an inflammatory rhetorical question.". First run hits stores a little after Thanksgiving.

It's just barely over 200 pages, with larger-than-average print text. It talks extensively about left vs. right schisms, with footnotes (that really only refer to Lexis-Nexis or Google lazy research I did) that make the whole thing feel very scholarly. Depending on your political ideology, it will either soothe you and reinforce your opinions, or give you and your friends something to mock and complain about at your next social gathering. I don't mean to brag... But I think it's so good, half the population will try to draft me into a presidential campaign, and the other half will complain loudly about how they ought to leave the country as long as people like me are free to publish such idiotic hate-speech.

Unfortunately, this Nobel announcement came too late for me to crank out a poorly reasoned, grammatically questionable chapter about it in time to get it to the printers... But the paperback edition should be out next summer (buy both!) and I'm sure we'll throw in an appendix so I can try to drum up additional paperback sales and hopefully justify a second book tour on Random House's dime.

Still... I think there's some insightful stuff in there about our current situation. And you don't have to take my word for it- The back cover is absolutely jam-packed with flattering blurbs and positive reviews from similarly aligned political pundits who'd kick their own mother in the throat to get themselves in front of a TV camera for 10 minutes.

Makes a great stocking stuffer! Just don't download it or share it with a friend, you thieving jerks. :angry:

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out when it comes time for re-election. I see this as making his re-election more difficult as those in the middle of the spectrum will think he should have accomplished more since he won this award so early in his first term. If he had been given this award in year three or four in his presidency it would have been a affirmation to his accomplishments. I think the tepid response shows that there is quite a bit of skepticism that Obama will be able to delivery on all his promises he made while on the campaign trail.

Additionally, my airline (like many airlines) still maintains an interline staff travel agreement with IranAir and have looked into whether or not a brief visit to Tehran is possible...if things continue to calm down there, of course.

I do a good bit of traveling.

Nothing is calming down in either Iran or North Korea, stick around.

I'd bet just about every conservative feels more at risk and every liberal feels safer when traveling. Just Human Nature.

It's easier to steal from a friend than it is from an enemy. It's even better when you're the better equipped pickpocket.

Good diplomatic relations have any number of benefits that aren't PR related.

Wasn't what we were talking about. It was about one person feeling safer in a foreign nation.

But, I do agree with you here. The problem is the better equipped pickpocket must be willing to use his skills, and not blindly trust the less taleted pickpocket to be honest. Pres. Obama doesn't strike me as a leader with this capability, much like Jimmy C.

I think you might be misunderestimating the guy. I mean, he's already stolen the election and pilfered the Nobel Peace Prize.. And that's just what we know about so far. He just might be a smooth criminal after all.
