This afternoon / night we saw a real classic between the Twins and Tigers. Minnesota kept things going at the Metrodome for at least one more game as they clinched the AL Central crown in 12 innings, 6-5, in a one game playoff. A memorable night of solid starting pitching, great defense, a battle of bullpens, momentum shifting homers, pitchers getting in and out of jams, and an incredibly managed game by two of baseball's best. This was easily the best regular season game I have seen all season, and one of the best this decade. The circumstances combined with the execution was absolutely brilliant. Pure October magic.

There is more to come folks.....

That WAS a fantastic game. October almost never disappoints. Despite how great the playoffs can be in the NFL, NHL or NBA - something about baseball's postseason always brings on more than its share of magic. Best postseason in pro sports for my money.

I realized that my hate index has already shifted. I hate to reseed, but:

1. Yankees (never changing)

2. Phillies (my boss is ignoring work and deadlines and dumping items on people to watch their stupid day games. I hope they never come back from Denver.

3. Red Sox (this shocked me, but I found myself enjoying watching the Angels beat them)

4. Angels (but not that much)

5. Cardinals (I forgot how much LaRussa annoys me. So smug...so failtastic)

6. Dodgers (just hard to feel any feelings towards them)

7. Twins (for not offering up the fight the Tigers might have)

8. Rockies (for being able to beat #2)

MLB is about as exciting as Soccer. ...just sayin'.

I have to disagree, nothing is as horrible to watch as soccer.

So, you expect me to let this slip???? Baseball is so overrated as a major pro sport these days. Anyone check the DFW ratings once the Rangers were out of it? Putrid! Now that the Cards have been swept along with Boston they might as well close up shop for the year. Major League baseball better do something for the Rangers quick or MLB will lose one of the biggest TV markets in the country...if it hasn't been lost already. Just saying.

Soccer...now that's exciting...anyone check out the USA's win over Honduras in World Cup qualifying this Saturday? A 3-2 comeback win by the US to seal a World Cup berth in South Africa. See, soccer really has a "World Series", not like that baseball thing where only one country is playing in its "World Series"...what a joke!

There...just had to chime in to support my "footy"!

You must be Kidding a Dodgers/Yankees World Series would bring crazy ratings for baseball these days. Torre vs his old Club, and Yankee & Dodger match up is as classic as they come even from the old Brooklyn days. Don't let your delusions of crappy old soccer distort your judgment too much. Soccer is so third world!

I won't watch it/care about it. The Rockies are the only thing keeping me even remotely interested in MLB. I'm with Kram...can't wait for the Cup!

You might not care or watch it, but of all the series that are possible this year a Dodgers - Yankees series would have the best ratings. It is opposite coasts, there is a story, there is tradition, there is some drama. Plus the Yankee haters will jump on the Dodger bandwagon. Plus it should be good baseball.

Dude, the WWE gets better ratings than soccer. Let it go.

Got home last night in time to see the last couple innings of the Yankee's game, wow 13 of them, all I can say is 2-0 baby.

Yankees & Dodgers here we come!

Is the most exciting year since you started following them in 1995?
