Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe said the Bronx bowl was a late addition to the Big 12's schedule, but it was too good to pass up.

"This is an opportunity to put our brand, our football, in the biggest market in the world," he said.

The Independence Bowl in Shreveport, La., was bumped from the conference's bowl lineup to make room.

Good move for the big 12 very weak in the northeast. Also, good opportunity for the Independence bowl to increase attendance by brining in more regional teams.

Finally a stadium with worse sight lines than Fouts! Gee, how much for 50 yard seats? $5 bucks and a kick in the nuts?

A Bowl game created purely for TV. Otherwise, why Yankee Stadium? I could see a bowl game in the new Giants/Jets stadium when it's finished next year. But this is a stadium designed purely for baseball. And the seating/sight lines will be worse than Oakland Coliseum, worse than all of the 1970's circular all-sports stadiums (Philadelphia/Pittsburgh/Cincinnati/St. Louis), worse than - dare I say it? - Fouts Field.

They might as well play the game in Javits Center - it would be kind-of like the Kibbie Dome.

... I see Stebo beat me to it...
