One Thing I Was Proud Of Saturday Night

We've seen some pretty sad displays of classlessness the past few years in College Football. Recently the Oregon RB punching a Boise State player after some trash talking is the most obvious example. As I watched that replay, I commented on how restrained and disciplined the rest of the Boise State players were in the aftermath. I cringed after the punch thinking a brawl was about to take place but the players controlled themselves. Why? The Boise State players have a little more important long term goal than "keeping it real."

After the Ohio 2 pt. conversion on Saturday, the Ohio players spilled out onto the field in celebration and many of them that were on the field made a dead sprint for our sideline yelling at our bench and talking trash. I thought, "oh crap."

But our players didn't run off the sidelines toward them. They stayed restrained, took it like men, didn't react, shook hands and got off the field.

What was it Bear Bryant said? "Show class, have pride, and display character. If you do, winning takes care of itself."

I thought that was a pretty good display of sportsmanship and maybe an indication of the culture that is being formed here.

Thumbs up from this alum...
