Lindy's picked BSU to be an upper echelon MAC team this year. Steele had them down for 2009. New Hampshire is a top 20 preseason school for their classification, but yeah--"YIKES!".

New Hampshire has a veteran team that is in the FCS Top 10. It is becoming commonplace to see the top FCS teams beat, or lose a close contest, to Michigan, Virginia, Iowa, Marshall, SMU, and Florida State. Last year, New Hampshire beat Army.

FCS teams are usually going to give their best effort against an FBS member to make a statement for their team, conference and division. Unless you are a very good FBS team, or expect to be, be wary of scheduling the top FCS teams especially.

Ball State has better players but they also have a new coaching staff and have yet to gel, especially on offense. I think they'll be better by conference time but they are struggling a little at the moment.

A lot of people who follow the MAC saw this coming. BSU's offense is in a state of total chaos, their defense is breaking in a new system, and Stan Parrish has a 15-41-2 all time coaching record in Division 1. There was hope that MiQuale Lews could carry them to a 6-6 or 7-5 record but even he cant run without a line in front of him.

UNH had won 4 straight games against FBS teams coming into the game and the average record of those teams was between 3-9 and 4-8 which is where Ball state looks like it may end up. EMU/Miami(OH) are winnable games, maybe they pick off Army this week.
