yep, last time i checked you couldnt accept a penalty after you declined it...

The refs shouldn't have asked them about the penalty until the review was over.

Will be curious to hear the take from everyone who made it to the game. From the radiocast, it sounded like a sloppy game with lots of mistakes for both teams. Outside of those, was there execution by the players, smart schemes from the coaches, heart (which it did sound like), and other factors?

Ohio had two huge goalline stands. The last play of the game shows what a true goalline package can do for your offense. The shotgun handoffs inside the 5 drive me nuts. Still though, NT had plenty of opportunities to win.

Just got home from the game...man it was a wet one.

My thoughts: we sat on the student section (i was impressed with the student turnout on a day like today) but our student fans lack class...BIG TIME...and they do not know anything about football; when to chant. i loved hearing them shout "lets go eagles" and cussing at the other team.

This is truly a different team than last year...i just hope they can rally around the team and not just Riley. Our defense was impressive...i feel they needed to adjust to the option Ohio kept throwing at us and we should have seen the 2 pt conversion play they ran.

Refs are still horrible...i saw blatant holds from Ohio that the refs never called as well as face masks on our part.

The only thing that kept our penalties from killing us was Ohio's penalties.

Our offense i feel is struggling. We are having a lot of trouble consistently throwing the ball down field and tonight they did a good job keep our run game under control.

GMG!

Just watched the game. Someone get Outlaw some better gloves or something. Also, regular old mid-major football is too much for Riley? He got hurt last year against Rice and tonight against Ohio. This one hurt bad.

Still happy with 1-1 split though.

I will say this - this team is MILES ahead of where it was the last two seasons, but they are still young and I can assure you the TV doesn't do justice to just how wet that field and everything there was. It was so wet they band didn't even try to march at the break.

Also, can we teach the students that they don't need to make a huge amount of noise when our offense is inside the 10 trying to score?

Several NT players waved their arms in the air encouraging the noise when we were nearing the goal line. The students obliged. (And kudos to them for the noise they made overall. Much louder than their numbers.) Consider this - The noise 6K students made while we were on offense is good practice for the noise 80K will make next week.

Tune did a heck of a job, brought them back & gave them a chance to win AFTER the pick 6. You can't hang this loss on him... He was throwing very catachable balls... 2 end zone drops was what coat the game. I'd have loved to have seen Breece Johnson have a chance to catch those...

I was worried about Tune after he threw that pick.. but it seems to me that once he settled down, he was a very decent back up. I think in that situation they maybe should have run the ball to get let him get the jitters out. you don't get the first down fine punt it. your defense is playing well make ohio's struggling offense beat you when we were ahead at that point. just my opinion. I think if Riley can't go tune will be fine as long as the game plan is adjusted for him.
