Hurt my feelings? Here you go trying to marginalize again. I have absolutely no personal connection to Shane Porter, other than his representing my (our) school with extraordinary effort. I'm sorry you can't seem to see that.......or value his effort on behalf of our alma mater.
You forgot a guy by the name of Abner Haynes. And right after him was Bobby Smith (#25 on your program) who was drafted by Buffalo. But one of my favorites of that era (60's) was the rushing leader for the 65 & 66 team, an ex-marine named Willie Cherry (#33 on your program). His numbers were pretty pathetic (397 and 218 respectively), by just about any era's standards, but his effort to get those numbers was pretty impressive. He was undersized, but he bit and clawed and gouged for every yard he got. In a lot of ways, Shane Porter reminds me of that guy.
I’ve been saying this for years. SometImes momma’s ability to say “my baby plays at (insert school)” trumps what is best for the kid’s long-term success.
