I don't know if anyone else got this in the mail, but I got my issue of Gateway to Giving from the Office of Development at UNT. Here are the Top Ten Ways that You Can Make a Difference at UNT according to them:

1. Keep your address, phone number and e-mail address up to date in alumni records.

2. Join the North Texas Exes and your local UNT alumni club.

3. Proudly wear Mean Green and White.

4. Get a UNT license plate (proceeds help fund UNT student scholarships).

5. Attend UNT athletic events (dress in UNT green), music concerts, dance performances and theatre productions.

6. Make an unresticted gift to Annual Fund.

7. Hire UNT graduates and encourage others in your organization to hire them.

8. Put a UNT sticker or decal on your car.

9. Hang your UNT degree proudly in your office or home.

10.Use an MBNA North Texas Exes Credit Card.

How many have you done already?

Anyone can put a UNT "mini billboard" (car sticker/window decal) on their car and, trust me, people notice them on the highways because just think how most of us notice other school's. What better way of free advertisement. Wouldn't it be nice if all 100,000 plus area alums had something from UNT on their cars?

Even TCU's student parking auto window stickers look like a school spirit auto decal and I wish UNT would look into doing the same. All 30,000 UNT students this Fall should get something to stick on their car windows IMHO.

"1. Keep your address, phone number and e-mail address up to date in alumni records."

Check. smile.gif

"2. Join the North Texas Exes and your local UNT alumni club."

Check. I'm in NT Exes and am kinda trying to start a California Chapter.

"3. Proudly wear Mean Green and White."

Check. One guy on the last set I worked on asked if I got kickbacks from the school since I advertised for them so much. wink.gif

"4. Get a UNT license plate (proceeds help fund UNT student scholarships)."

Hmmmm I have a license plate holder...for my car that I don't yet have.

"5. Attend UNT athletic events (dress in UNT green), music concerts, dance performances and theatre productions."

It's hard when you live so far away...

"6. Make an unresticted gift to Annual Fund."

I gave to the radio/TV/Film Department.

"7. Hire UNT graduates and encourage others in your organization to hire them."

Not yet in a position to hire.

"8. Put a UNT sticker or decal on your car."

I have a few stickers waiting....I am currently without a vehicle. Thanks God the bus system out in LA will get you anywhere.

"9. Hang your UNT degree proudly in your office or home."

It hasn't been removed from the box since I moved. My current apartment is hopefully somewhat temporary, so I'm sorta still packed.

10.Use an MBNA North Texas Exes Credit Card

Check. Of course...I never leave home without it. smile.gif

The office of the president sent me a decal when I was accepted to grad school. It is proudly displayed next to my Association of Former Students decal. cool.gif

I wonder if they can/do send them to undergrads as well.
