Everyone can think what they want, but having so few seniors, this bodes well for the next few years.... We'll have a chance to recruit quality players, redshirt them and actually start to re-load instead of re-act...

What a difference a few months make....

Was anybody else this optimistic last May?

In a word, No... And maybe we should tap the breaks just a bit. We did have trouble getting consistent pressure on the QB facing an O-line that had 4 new starters. I am excited, but lets see what happens this week.

Yeah, those guys looked pretty good for a unit that was so suspect. I think we will see more player evaluation and adjustments along the D-line during the season. I did like one thing; their quarterback, apparently with good mobility, wasn't breaking the long runs like we started giving up early on last year.

It just seemed that we were extremely quick in pursuit. Sooooo different than last year, when it looked like we were running in sand compared to the other team.

No matter whether the d-line is merely average or will be approachig greatness next year, we are a competitive D1A football team for the 1st time in two years!!!

Ok, I need to tell myself again, tap the brakes!

I would have to disagree slightly with the lack of pressure argument.

Did we get a lot of sacks??? No, but we did get in the backfield quite a bit, altering many pass plays by making the QB run around, causing several passes to be inaccurate.

Pressure doesn't have to be a ton of sacks...I do think the sacks will come, and in the end we need to have a lot more than 12 sacks as seaosn's end, but against Ball St., there was pressure on the QB

I'm not sure there is much to worry about. The defensive game plan was to contain the RB postiion, QB scramble, and make the new QB beat us with his arm. This weeks game plan will be much different and the results should be just as encouraging as last week.
