Not what you want to hear if you're not a Todge fan (and no, I'm not implying that I'm not). He may very well be right.

The addition of Cole is just another reason Dodge will be back next year no matter what when all is said and done. UNT is stockpiling talent. Even if this year is as big a disaster as the last two, or really every season since 2004, UNT officials will start to look at what is in place in terms of talent and let it ride for another year.

There is no way he stays with another 1-11 or 2-10 year. He's got enough talent to win some games this year; if he can't, he won't be able to win all that many more with Stradford, Cole, and Herron (sp?).

But I am confident that it will not be an issue.

I don't want to go through last season again - I really ready to start winning and hopefully it is turned around this year.....but according to a "hint" from our friend Tasty, if this team went 0-12 or 1-11 or even 2-10 I doubt he would be back for a fourth season. But what do I know?

To me, it doesn't really matter who you bring in as long as you win with the players that you bring in. The late Jim Wacker used to regularly have the highest rated recruiting class in the SWC, but those classes never translated into SWC championships.

Win some damn games against opponents that amount to a hill of beans. THAT'S WHAT COUNTS.

I think Vito is right on with this. And if you listened to RV's comments at the cookout, he as much as said so. He made reference to the a lot of things that have happened were not all TD's fault. RV has never made a comment that it comes down to wins and losses. I think he could keep most games close (one way or the other with Alabama being the exception), and keep his job regardless of the record. And he was in some way, directly or indirectly, promised a stadium so I think he will at least see the first year in it.

I think it would be more likely some new assistants as opposed to Todd getting the axe. I've never seen a team with so much talent achieve so little... This has to be a turning point. There's just too much talent to keep losing.

Looking back at the scores from last season was even worse than I remembered. We actually had a chance against Arkansas St and got somewhat lucky against WKU. 10 of the losses were complete blowouts. 0-12 could have easily occurred last year.

This year's team could end up with just 2 wins, yet be a lot more competitive than last year.

To be honest, I am not going to base my judgement on actual wins and losses this season. But, we need to see lots of improvement from a competitive standpoint.

Next year is the no-excuses year to start piling up some wins IMHO.

I have seen improvement just in scrimmages from spring to fall. How much that actually translates to real games remains to be seen. The stockpile of talent is only as good as what results are gained from them. Again, Trilli was a great talent-getter he just couldn't produce the wins with it. I feel like NT will show up better in games this season, but closing the gap of 28 points average loss is not easy to do in just one off season. We'll find out Thursday how far we've come from last year.

I had started a thread a while back talking about how good the '10 has the potential to be.

With the addition on Cole TD and Riley have some serious weapons to play with. The future of this team is exciting.

Easy there. Remember, we were the absolute worst team in D1A last year, so unless this was the greatest recruiting class in the history of recruiting classes, "stockpile of talent" does not yet apply to this team. Let's see what happens Thursday before we anoit them Sun Belt Champs.
