Cobbs

How did Patrick Cobbs shrink two inches from the time he played at UNT. I coulda swore he was listed at 5'10" when he played here. Surely no college program would lie about the physical composition of their players!! Next thing you know, people will be saying R Dodge is only 5'9"!! The blasphemy!!!

Just great quotes from his coach and teammates, and of course, from PC himself.

"Slow and steady he shows you every day out here that he warrants having a role. And little by little, you start to give him more crumbs every single day, and you figure out he can handle a little bit more of this, a little bit more of that," Sparano said. "Before you know it, you got a big old pie out there."
. . . Williams said. "I've never seen anything he can't do."

"You can never get complacent in this league," Cobbs said. "Every year they want to find someone better than you. Every year you have to prove you can do it, and as proof, look at all the veterans who get cut all the time. You've never really made it. That's why I come out every day and work hard to show the coaches I bring value."

It's a process that begins in high school. You recruit a 6' 4" tackle and he becomes 6' 2" in college and then when he shows up in pro camp, he's 6'1". It's like 40 times. Tons of 4.4 40 guys in high school, who become 4.5 in college and then test out 4.6 at the pro combines.

from finsnation.com, link is at the bottom of the article.

The Leprechaun Cobbs started off as a sort of punchline to the fact that we had shitty running backs to fall on after Ronnie and Ricky went down to injuries a couple of seasons ago. Samkon Gado, as it turned out, was rather shitty. Cobbs? He was rather awesome.

Patrick Cobbs is the perfect scrappy, lunch pail blue collar player guys like Sparano and Parcells love. He's hard working, brings it every single play and has tremendous versatility. He'll play the H-back, he'll catch passes out of the backfield, he'll break open screens with his quickness, he'll punch you in the dick for no apparent reason. He can also fight twenty men armed with swords and flails while downing a pint of Guinness with one hand and pleasuring a harem of Asian hookers with the other.

Ain't that right, Pat?
