There are a lot of similarities and a few points that are dissimilar. The fact that both had good enough credentials for acceptance into a top program but, for whatever reason, sat their second year, is the main similiarity. Actually, Corley did get to play in two games but that's insignificant.

Corley, by going to Troy, will actually be about 35 miles closer to Mobile; at least Stradford got a couple of hundred miles closer. And, we don't know the "family circumstances" associated with Tyler Stradford except the trauma and uprooting resulting from Katrina.

I could see the ruling if the player was going from a lesser program to a top program, or even one of similar rating, but it should seem clear that we (or Troy) are not raiding the Oklahomas or LSUs of the world whereas the reverse might be possible (and suspect).

If Corley had wanted to play this year he should have transferred to Alabama or Auburn. I expect the same ruling that we received.
