Please re-open. Where else can we talk about Rangers, MJ, Cops writing tickets, Mavericks, Stars, High School Sports, and all the other non-political threads that I can't remember.

Ban political discussion or create a new area for it. Still amazes me that people cant engage in thoughtful discussion without throwing out a nuclear bomb.

Being that I love two streets from a Taco Mayo, I can intimately say that it is teh sucks. However, I do rank it over the bell.

Doing that with a burrito is illegal, No? :D

Big fan of the Cabana. And if you can get it through a window while you sit in your car, it is fast food.

Are we allowed to talk about Taco Cabana on the main forum? Too soon.

Rangers are up 2-0 in the third. Hunter looking good again.

***Since this was a thread about the Non-UNT-Sports Forum, I thought this was the most logical place for this post***

Big fan of Rick Pitino?

Cold medicine and HSOs are rarely combined effectively.

A Taco Mayo opened in my home town when I was in middle school. It does not suck. You call them tator tots but John's calls them Potato Olés (Taco Mayo calls them Potato Loco's.) It should be noted that fried potatoes are not a rarity in authentic Mexican cuisine.

Beat me to the punch on Potato Oles.

When I was in high school, I spent a few months working at a Taco John's. I had to wear a nametag. Every customer was the cleverest guy in the world.

I voted "yes".

If a nominal fee is required, I'd pay it, but then politics is open for discussion. If it's not, then hey, what you do with your site is your business.

To be quite honest, I don't visit the forum much during football or basketball season. Since NT hasn't had a football season in 2 years, I've been there quite a bit.

IMHO, at minimum it should be open only to registered users.

Gotta agree, if there is a fee it should be open for political discussions, if not then I am on the side of a separate political forum.

I also doubt that I will be visiting many things other than the football forum during the season especially if we are competitive. I think that as we get closer and even into the season the entire place will calm itself.

Besides, you only have to read or post if you want.. no one is forcing anyone to pay attention to the swill that goes on in there. Sometimes informative, sometimes drunken rambling but mostly entertaining.

The kicker would be if you could score some tiramisu after a taco...

El Guapo weeps hot, bitter tears at the loss of this great forum.

El Guapo will begin shooting hostages from the last train robbery ever hour, on the hour, until it is reopened.

So, this begs the question: Does gmg.com negotiate with terrorists?

Reopen with a rearranged title. Instead of Non UNT Sports which can be interpreted as any discussion other than about UNT sports, change it to Sports Non UNT. Hopefully than the threads would be limited to sports. I agree with those that think a sports message board is no place for political debate.

I'm with the group that is for re-opening the forum while banning political topics or creating a no-holds barred cage match pay-per-view type forum.

I'm all for banning the worthless political crap, but lets tap the brakes on the BS. Without BS there's no room for a Taco Mayo/John's/Bell/Bueno/Cabana/Palace/Time debate and discussion. Is that a world(cyber) we want to live in?

If money is exchanged, should it be donated to a PAC of the most active posters choice?

You know, I was thinking about quick serve mexi restaraunts... and I can't think of one that has "burrito" in the name. A lot of "Taco". Why is it that the burrito is so neglected.

It makes me sad for it.

This world you speak of makes me want to grab the razor blades right now.

To save us with too much free time, I demand a BS forum within the GoMeanGreen Forums so that we who are united in mean green spirit may kill said time in our side room, with our big screen and recliner.

I didn't vote one way or the other; it's like those polls where there's a clear majority one way or the other, until another question is thrown in, sending responses all other the board. There's multitudes of political forums out there, so I don't really see why it's so important to discuss every hot button issue that arises in the larger society, when, honestly folks, we have a long way to bring our school up academically and athletically, without disparaging those of varying opinions to the point they decide "to hell with these guys".

What I'd like to see is two additional forums (I'll leave it to those who care whether "Non Unt" political chat or not):

1. "Other Sports" (meaning not involving UNT student athletes).

2. "The UNT Community", which could be whatever topics one wishes to discuss, but must relate to UNT in some way (regional transportation issues that in some way affect UNT, for example), and also involve the local, regional, national, or international world outside of UNT.

In all honesty, what I like about the forum is a chance to talk openly about my opinions. It must be a pain to moderate, and I understand shutting it down.

The only two real fights I've had with people were through PM's. One of them has been resolved. I've taken as good as I've gotten on the NonSports Forum. I think it keeps people honest. I've received and sent messages through PM's that NEVER would have been posted on a public forum.

As a point of reference, I bet KRAM and I are as far apart on the political scale as possible. If we're at a bar I'd bet we get along pretty well, but we'd have a lively debate from time to time, much like the "Non-UntSports Forum". Let us start at each other in the back alley (or blathering behind our computers w/o a watchdog) and watch out! For the record, I'm glad KRAM and I haven't had a PM meltdown, and I can thank the aforementioned forum for that. It's kept us honest. (Sorry again, for confusing you with Flyer, Dude. My bad.)

If you guys don't feel like being bouncers, who am I to judge? I didn't pay a cover charge.

Ok... what about if it were reopened with the caveat that any political discussion (references, allusions, or commentary referencing political parties, in the sole discretion of the moderators) would be met with the heaviest of banhammers? I'm alright with that. But halfhearted moderation is a beating in the worst way. Either all in or all out. That's what I think.
