Finally some progress that has been proposed that is actually taking place in Denton, Texas, U.S.A.

Major kudos go out to DCTA and the TxDot for moving quickly on their plans for the 21 mile DCTA rail plan from Denton to Carrollton to meet up with DART. Let's hope the City of Denton doesnt screw up their progress, like they do with every project that comes through Denton.

There is alot of dirt moving throughout Denton in regards to this project and the new rail stations are going to be sprouting up soon. I think they have a chance at hitting their expected completion date on the project, that is of course of the City of Denton does not screw up their plans like they tend to do.

Im really pissed off that this rail thing is going through useless places in Denton. I mean it is riding all the way up on I-35 into Denton as it is. How about you continue on I-35 or have an extension that places a station near UNT/ Mean Green Stadium, and continues to Rayzor Ranch. Wait that would make way too much sense, nevermind.... <_<

Patience. The long term plan, if this phase is successful, is to put a line running off the Texas Motor Speedway line to the downtown Denton station. That would be the most likely line to have a station on campus and Rayzor. Check out the long term 2030 plan, page 15:

In the meantime, you can hop on the shuttle bus at the train station over to campus.

There is a rail line coming up from Dallas that crosses another rail line just north of Fort Worth Drive (377) and continues over by the stadium, goes under 35 and passes not too far from Rayzor Ranch...but on the other side of 35.

Are they using this same rail line coming out of Dallas, or are they building a new rail road bed? This is a suggestion in simplified form, but they could do like Amtrak and lease the line (or co-use of the line) going by the stadium and build stations (and sidings) at the stadium and across from Rayzor Ranch. Surely the line going by the Athletic center is not that busy.

My thoughts are the same. It is frustrating that the closest this gets is the other side of the square. I hope Flyer is right in that there will be another one that will connect unt and rayzor... it can't get here soon enough. I am looking forward to it all.

I am also glad to see something going up at Rayzor.

I am really kind of shocked by the speed at which this project is now moving. I get e-mail alerts regarding the A-Train, and it seems every day they are closing another street to put in the track.
