My Biggest Fear For The Season

There is definitely a buzz about this program right now and a lot going on to be pumped about. Stadium seems like it's all but a reality, there is hope for the offense and defense, and in general it seems that a lot of our fanbase is in "green kool-aid" mode. I am deathly afraid of what happens if things don't go swimmingly this football season though...and especially in the home opener. I have watched this fanbase for a long time now and, with the exception of some of us hardcore masochists, the bandwagon empties quickly. I want to see that we can break one of the oldest North Texas traditions....packing 'em in for the home opener, taking it on the chin, and watching that crowd leave never to be seen until the next season when we are all full of "hope" again.

Which is an even better reason to somehow, someway get to Muncie to see the first game while it's still all good and all green. :)

That is a legitimate concern...everything is looking great right now, but you never know. I am definitely leaning towards the side of a big turnaround though.

I just hope that people aren't hoping for 10 wins or something with all the good things that are going on...6 wins would be a phenominal season...4-5 with the rest being competitive would be great!!!

Hi standards motivate. Every single person supporting this program needs to ensure they have their details in order, especially for the home opener. The coaching staff, players, tailgate organizers, band, cheerleaders...need to be on in a short 30 days. Bring it - no excuses. You have one shot to put on a great show. This one show will have a major impact on the entire season - crowds , optimism...

You know, I said the same thing about hope. .

Speaking of high standards: I think we should compete for the Sun Belt title this year. Should being the operative word. I have my doubts. I am drinking the Kool-Aid. I don't mind gettin swept up in the fervor --in fact that is the fun part about being a fan of sports-- but realistically? Well, I'll shut up and just enjoy the ride.

Be honest why don't you? Your fear is anything that brings Dodge back.

Yup. I'm against polishing the brass on the Titanic.

The Dodge era is the worst era in school history. His poor choice in assistants over the last 2 years won't be undone until we have a new head coach.

Actually, I'd say that as a whole, and taken at a glance, the Dickey era was one of the worst. I'm sure the real topper was the drop into IAA, though.

Get ready to be miserable for the next 2 years because the Dodge era will last atleast that long! You bailed from a ship that was just leaving dock and you will regret it. I'll state it again, "Any school, other than the big dogs, take longer than 2 years to get on course when faced with the number of leftover issues this program is having to overcome". Progress will be visable this season even to the most jaded of Mean Green Fans. Well that is for everyone but those with personal vendettas against Dodge. We'll save you a seat for when you decide it's safe to come back onboard!
