Flax A Redshirt?

I know that Keenan Flax is a major get and I'm very excited about it...but would he/we be best served if he redshirted? It seems that OL is one of the few "strength" positions that we have. Wouldn't having a guy who is this close to D1 ready go through strength training while we can afford to sit him be in everyone's best interest?

Time will tell on that one Emmitt. It probably would be best to redshirt him. Who's to say he won't set the world on fire?

More than likely he will be redshirted. I am anxious to see the type of competition he provides as a newbie. A good get nonetheless.

Seems like today from the practice blog that he was working with the 2nd team today...I know it is the first day of practice, but who knows.

I also noticed that the had him playing tackle...the tackle spot behind Gill...I know that Gill had what most will call a successful season, but it wasn't an all-conference season, and he is undersized...only moved up to 265 they said today...maybe Flaz moves into that spot and becomes a 4 year starter...who knows

All other things being equal, I think I would take two years more experience over an extra 10 lbs.

Wow! I'm vacationing in Montreal and have been traveling the last two days. I log in and find out that we have three new players! The news about Stradford sucks but this is great. I remember when Flax committed (was excited) and then de-committed (was pissed) last year. I guess I stopped following him then because I had no idea he never enrolled at Houston. For a minute, I thought I was reading an old thread. Anyway...great news on all three!! GMG.

My guess is that Dodge needs to win NOW to keep his job. If Flax is the best player at his position, my guess is he plays now.

That's what you get for vactioning in Montreal. The Mean Green news reel moves on. Good news indeed, though.
