1. Is the third time the charm in Denton? Todd Dodge arrived to the University of North Texas with all the hype of an extremely successful high school football coach at the highest level in Texas. Whether it was a depleted talent base, or bad coaching, Dodge has yet to bring any kind of success to the program fans had hoped for. This will be his third year at the helm, and many are looking for results.

5. Will UNT’s defense improve? The Mean Green were one of the worst defenses in the country the past two years. Depth and talent were an issue, but several of the young players have grown up, and Dodge and company signed some big guys to fill the middle in the defensive line.

6. Will Riley Dodge become the starting quarterback for the Mean Green? Dodge chose his dad, Coach Todd Dodge, and the UNT Mean Green over the Texas Longhorns two years ago. With the departure of former starter, Giovanni Vizza, Riley will have to outplay senior quarterback Nathan Tune to win the job in Fall camp. No one on the team knows Dodge’s spread offense better than Riley.

The game is on Oct 3, which is an open week for UNT. I wonder if some kind of guerrilla marketing campaign can bring attention to the fact that TCU won't play us.

Only one way to find out. I'll start. Next headline will be: Why TCU is scared of UNT:

1. Denton is better than FW

2. Green is better than Purple

3. Eagles are better than Horny Frogs

4. We have TWO nicknames and 2>1

5. We are getting a new stadium, they are stuck with an OLD one, ewwww.

6. We have the highest scoring offense of Sun Belt teams located in Denton, Tx 76201

One question that needs to be asked is why, UNT, TCU, SMU, and Baylor do not play every year.

First, I would eliminate Baylor from the mix for two reasons...there aren't enough OOC games each year and they are a super 6 conference member.

Agree that a UNT, TCU, SMU round robin each year would help build college football interest in the Metroplex. One home and one away game each year with minimal travel.

SMU will soon be doing that, beginning in 2014. So you can't blame the Mustangs for that one. TCU believes that they have everything to lose and nothing to gain from such a matchup. It's likely to stay that way until TCU is the weaker of the three several years running. Possibly then, but I doubt it, will TCU agree to a Metroplex championship.
