Good News...nice read. I like the kid's attitude. He will definitely help anchor the OL if he is 100% ready to go. Another reason to look forward to better times this season for the Mean Green faithful.

OK, I'll admit that I almost didn't read the thread because at first I thought it was about Drake University somehow. Now, that's funny, right?

...yeah, especially since the word "dominance" was in the title. B)

I like his use of the term "beasting". I'm going to have to start using that one.

You should spend more time with Marshawn Lynch - well unless you hate concealed guns or getting hit by a car.

Interesting. Tell me how your customers like the new terminology.

Somehow it seems most fitting for someone who plays in the O-line or the D-line.

In fact, IMHO that word best decribes what is needed most in our D-line play this year.

It's going to be real interesting to watch the postion battle along the O-line this year. I think Santiago and Johnson are the only for sures along the line. Drake is at guard where you have Bailey, Hollivay, Feeley.

I would like to know what Victor Gill is weighing in at right now? He played great for being so under sized. If he could even get up to the 285 range he would be a beast.

Come on...I know you...of all people here on the board...are old enough to get it. Maybe its dementia setting in for you....Was just trying to "pick on myself" a little...it was a joke aimed at my own expense. Why not join the crowd here who like that sort of thing?

I think that Santiago may be the only for sure in the line. Johnson is a for sure unless Hollivay dominates enough to start. Then it's possible that Drake returns to center. Feeley is probably another for sure but if he can play tackle that might free up Drake (and Hollivay) to start at guard.

Bailey, Jenkins and maybe Bean should contend but Gill is pretty likely the starting tackle unless Feeley is moved there. The last I heard Gill's weight was around 270. Still a little light but certainly better than the 250 that he played at last year.

Johnson is very good and one forte is that I don't believe that he made a bad snap. However, Drake only made a couple in two years and he is a former second team all-conference player. He should be on the field. Still, I'd like to see Johnson start at center.

Good find, and a good story about a very good NT player.

I do like the "beasting" of Drake's abilities, and best of all, 2 more years at North Texas! I am wondering about RG Tyler Bailey. Where does he fit in with the OL? Bailey sufffed a broken leg last year, required surgery. I have read that Bailey has healed up. Bailey was a good OL player too. I hope he can play this season.

Here is something interesting. Scout- College football News has all 120 team previews up. I checked out the NT

preview, and the offense depth chart. CFN has 6-3, 378 Nate Jenkins listed as the #2 RG, behind #1 RG Coleman Feeley, 6-4, 318. Has Jenkins worked his way up to the #2 RG spot? Could this be true?

A buddy of mind said both Gabe Hollivay and Nate Jenkins have shed around 30lbs each. Hollivay is soild at

LG now, so losing 30lbs will help his mobility.

Position battles-

Coleman Feeley at RG, back up Kelvin Drake, or Nate Jenkins, or Tyler Baily?

JJ Johnson-or-Kelvin Drake at Center? I think Dan Holt is a center also.

Gabe Hollivay at LG. Can Drake push out Hollivay?

Kelvin Drake is ready for the competion for a starting position, and that he has something to prove!

RG/LG/Center positions look very soild, no matter who wins the trench wars that are about to begin.

Speaking of, when does fall practice begin? Aug 15?

Don't know if I can find the thread but I believe that someone posted that it begins on August 7.

Either way, it can't get here soon enough. And I must say that I'm once again going to miss the daily in depth reviews of practice that Harry used to give. Those were the days

I don't blame him...I didn't particularly like watching them play last year either! B)

Best line of the day! And, a big "YES SIR" to you for that one... now that's funny! :clapping:

I think you'll be pleased this year. We have the opportunity of covering that a little closer this year.

Thats great to hear. Like I said I really appreciated your updates in the past. They were so incredibly in depth. Not knocking Vito, but there was no comparison on your write ups vs his.

Doesn't sound like he lacks any confidence.

He has an opportunity to gain some attention Sept. 19, when North Texas takes on the Alabama Crimson Tide and 6-foot-5, 380-pound defensive lineman Terrance Cody. Cody is considered one of the top defensive line prospects in the country.

“My plan is to go in and dominate game in and game out,” Drake said. “I want to show I can pay with the big boys. Going against (Cody) will be tough, but I’m going to man up. If I can dominate him, that’s good on my profile.”

Cody does look like a fairly large player. Wasn't this a scene from Fast Times at Ridgemont High?
