For the economists in the group...and just for some reminders of how this stuff works...take a look at Peter Ferrara's discussion of the Laffer Curve from the recent Spectator article. By the way Peter Ferrara is a director of entitlement and budget policy for IPI...The Institute for Policy Innovation whic is a policy think tank located in Lewisville, Texas. The web site is www.ipi.org in case anyone is interested in viewing the work IPI does.

Enjoy.

Two reasons I actually like that article:

1) Instead of just throwing up a random picture of the Laffer curve and saying, "See!?!? See!?!? Taxes are bad you idiots!" the article actually breaks down where on the Laffer curve the sweet spot lies along with who would have to pay how much.

2) Nowhere in the article is there even nary a mention of liberals murdering babies in the streets and then infringing on the right to execute misdemeanor offenders with fully automatic assault weapons for Jesus.

If more Republicans were like that guy, I might be prone to listen more often. Instead, all I ever get is that liberalism is a mental disease for Godless hippie fags.

Then, you should check out IPI's website at www.ipi.org. You might not like everything you see and read, but they do try to stick to the "policy issues" and keep personalities out of it. In fact, IPI was pretty darn critical of some of McCain's stuff during the campaign...Another of their scholars, Dr. Merrill Matthews actually has a spot on XM radio that plays from time to time and Dr. Matthews is well known as an expert in the health care field. Dr. Matthews had an Op-Ed published in Tuesday's Wall St. Journal as a matter of fact.
