"Over the course of the last five years, over their entire time in the WAC, you can't say (the Broncos) haven't benefited from their membership in the WAC and benefited tremendously."

More like the WAC has benefited from Boise State's membership.

This is all B.S. The WAC needs to add legitimacy by having a conference championship game.

I disagree completely on the championship front. That derailed a great Ball State season last year because of a meaningless championship game. The WAC gets tons more legitimacy for sending teams to BCS games than holding a championship game. Same goes for the MWC. Don't give your undefeated team another chance to get knocked out of the mix. Hell, Boise deserved to be in a BCS game last year over Ohio State, but the computers got them in the end. Another game against Fresno State or La Tech would have hurt them even more if they won because those other WAC teams were not highly rated. And speaking of Ohio State, has there been any team/conference that has benefited more from NOT having a conference championship game than the Big Ten and OSU? They get into three BCS games in a row because they are done playing early while all the other conferences are still beating each other up.

If you're the SEC and you're gonna' get all twelve teams in the BCS anyway because you're conference schedule is sooo haaard, then go ahead and have a big, money making championship game.

If you're the WAC, and you get a team into the BCS once every 3 or 4 years or more, then don't create a way to frack up what you've already got going just so 187 fans can drink cold beer in December.

Boise deserved to be in a BCS game last year

?Que? Are you talking about the same Boise team that lost to TCU? You can't play in a soft conference like the WAC and have cupcakes like fbs Idaho State on the schedule and expect to be taking seriously.

Really? Not even at 12-0? Because Boise lost to TCU by one point in their bowl game to finish the season 12-1 last year. It seems they were taken serious enough doing exactly the same thing in 2006 when they beat Sacramento State 45-0 and ending their regular season 12-0 enroute to their national championship win over OU in the Fiest Bowl.

I'd have to go back and look, but didn't Boise have to build up a couple perfect or near perfect seasons in 2004 and 2005 before anybody would give them a BCS look?

Those years were under a different BCS standard and the more complicated prior formula.

Ball State was at 12 in the BCS last year. They wouldn't have jumped Boise or Utah but they were all set to go if either stumbled.

Well, if you have no real candidate then this is the statement that should be made but he should've stopped at that. It may be wishful thinking that the WAC will look the same for the next five years.

As mentioned, Boise may not (read likely) be there. They would improve the MWC and could be a springboard for a 12-team conference with a title game. I think that Fresno State and Nevada are much longer shots but Fresno, especially, has good attendance and is usually pretty tough. Louisiana Tech could be forced to look for greener pastures if the economy forces travel expenses to soar.
