Lake toll bridge opens to traffic Aug. 1

The Lewisville Lake Toll Bridge will open to traffic Aug. 1, the North Texas Tollway Authority announced this week.

The $122 million bridge is scheduled to open to traffic Saturday afternoon following a community-led "Run the Lewisville Lake Toll Bridge" 5K run and family fun walk. NTTA will dedicate the opening of the bridge at a ceremony planned Thursday at 9 a.m.

Construction on the 1.7-mile toll bridge began in late 2006. The toll rates for two-axle vehicles will be $1 for TollTag customers and the higher cash rate of $1.50 for ZipCash drivers.

I've looked at the map, and I drove to the Little Elm side a couple days ago to check it out. Coming from West Frisco, is it really faster than just going up to 380?

I live over on the frisco, little elm border near where the bridge is coming out. It will bedazter to get to the campus, but not faster to the northeast side of Denton. If you don't want to spend a dollar you will probably only lose like 5-10 minutes.

$1.00 seems awfully expensive for a bridge less then 2 miles long.
