Ball State 24...I would take Ball State for 2 reasons. Its at Ball State and Riley in his 1st game. Not a knock on Riley, I think he will be a damn good QB. But it's he is a RS Fresh, starting his first game, and on the road.

I don't think it will be that high. Although Ball State was VERY good last year, they aren't getting a lot of respect. They lost their head coach and several key starters. Most pre-season college magazines have them picked to finish 4th or 5th in their conference.

I don't think we'll win but I wouldn't bet on us to lose by more than 38 1/2 either. +16??? Give me Ball State. +38 1/2 - I'm not betting.

I think 38 is a little high. For me, I'd set the line more in the 28-31 range.

Agree. And I have learned the hard way to stay away from UNT games (see LSU last year....legal bet made in Vegas)

In which quarter does Ball St. bring out the third string and reserves? Impossible to bet against a line without this knowledge. LSU case in point. If Rice racked up 77, LSU could have racked up 177 with their starters.

I see a positive season this year. Maybe not a conference championship or even a bowl...but a solid season!!!!! 5- 7 or even 6 - 6

LOL! Books would get massive BSU money with a single digit line. Joe public would pound BSU harder than Quoner watching a JQ highlight.

24 would be the lowest spread UNT has had in an opener in years. See KSU, OU, & UT.

Good point and good question, though I am quite certain that Rice would have put up more than 100 if they had wanted to.

Must disagree. I was at this game. It was 10-0 at the end of the 1st quarter (maybe the best defensive 1st quater of the season) and 27-3 at the half. LSU did not pull their starters until late in the third.

And I freakin hate Les (I won't cover the spread for my alums) Miles.

As a friend of mine said leaving the game in Houston "This isn't Texas or OU--- this is frickin' Rice". That about sums up a game we were out of after the first quarter, and one which drew a good road crowd and locals who only asked that we be competitive. Anyone who had been associated with the program for any period of time was totally embarrased by our lack of preparation and effort in this game.
