This kid must actually think Isiah Thomas is a good coach.

With the talent he is bringing in, it may not make any difference. I think all of you that expect Thomas to fall flat on his face, maybe in for a nasty surprise.

The FAU coach, Mike Jarvis, is well known too but he hasn't exactly turned FAU around yet either. "Jarvis posted a 363-202 career collegiate coaching record while guiding Boston University, George Washington University and St. John's University to a total of 11 postseason appearances in his 18 years at the helm."

Jarvis has been at FAU for one season...his star player was out most of the season, his second best player is a head case, he lost a developing talent averaging double figures to grades and he had to go to a former member of the band to just have enough players to compete on a night to night basis. Oh...and this class, doesn't suck.

I'm all for Thomas recruiting this kinda talent...I'm all for Western Kentucky making sweet 16s...I'm all for coaches with serious cred like Jarvis, John Brady and Ronnie Arrow making their teams better...if I wanted to beat saps I'd be pushing for UNT to join the Southland.

All of this is good for UNT, assuming we continue improvement trend this team has been on since JJ took over.

Oh I agree with you that I want Sunbelt basketball upgraded the most it can be. I just don't follow the "name" coach theory that some do in that certain coaches just because of their name can win anywhere with any players. Some coaches are exceptions to that but usually a school's facilities, road schedule, and home attendance have just as much influence on records as do said name coach.

True...look at SMU. But Jarvis isn't just a name...that was my point.

Dead on. I doubt Thomas will hold onto this verbal commitment, but the more talent that arrives in the conference, the more talent the conference attracts in the future. I really look forward to watching Holman next year.
