It's long over due that UNT interview other announcers for the play by play for UNT football and basketball.

We need a change! Yes, GD has been good for UNT but it is time for us to bring in a new personality!!!! It is time for us to move on. Yes, we will all be grateful for what GD brought to the table..."do you believe in the Mean Green?" But...........

.........we desperately need a new, a different voice for UNT athletics.

I hope the people in charge will will have the foresight and courage to make that change now.

No disrepect to GD but it is just time for change. A new voice! A different sound and a different perspective on UNT athletics!!! We need a person with a "different look and appeal." GD has become stale over the years. Change is good.

Make that change. Make that change today!

Because his look and voice have become stale. We need a more athletic looking announcer with a clearer voice. We need a change. We need a new look and a vibrant new sound. GD did a wonderful job but so did Bill Mercer. Times change and so do people. We need a more family oriented personality representing UNT Athletics.

Thats cool. Everyone has a right to their opinion. I though, would love to hear a new sound. I would love to see a more athletic looking announcer with a cleaner voice. Less heaviness in his sound. Less bass. Lighter. More brightness. Change is good! The time is now. There is plenty of new talent out there. Dickey is gone, now lets let Dunham take his seat in the stands where he can continue to cheer on the Mean Green.

The one constant positive within this athletic department for the past decade+ has been superior play-by-play and color commentary.

George ain't no Bill Mercer. He is an ok announcer but he will never be in the some class as Mr. Mercer. Besides, Hank is every bit as good as Dunham, actually better. And since they both sound alike, one needs to go. Hank is more valuable to UNT. Also I can't tell you how many times I have been listening to Dunham whether football or basketball and the man gets the play or the call all wrong. It's frustrating listening to him call a game. He never tells you what the score is. You know what? I am going to be honest here.....Dunham really is an average announcer. We just have become complacent because we all believe that somehow his loves UNT more than all the rest of us. There is better "talent" out there and we need to find it. No one should question Dunham's love and loyalty for UNT but never should we turn a blind eye or deaf ear.

I'm so very confused. I'm not in the Dallas market and rarely listen to the Cowboys on the radio, but if I read this thread correctly, George Dunham was the voice of the Cowboys?!! I thought it was Hank Stram or Dale Hanson. Man, I'm out of the radio loop. I'm no real fan of Dunham, but he's certainly been a big cheerleader for NT athletics, and that carries some weight with me.

No way! I'd prefer to lose you as a fan than George as voice of the Mean Green.

It's long over due that you get off this board, posting crap like this. Dunham just fits here. He cares about the program, he cares about the university, and while we could find another person with passion for the university, there's no real reason to get rid of Dunham. I don't care about how he looks; he's a radio voice, not really an on-screen personality, and when he is being filmed, he knows enough to still be more than a credible presence.

There's no reason to change George out. At all. Now, go join the SMU forums or something. They'll probably like you over there.

Before someone reads this and thinks the university has fired Ja...no...Jerry Jones did...he's out as PA for the Cowboys but is firmly entrenched, as well he should be and will hopefully so he will remain into perpetuity, as the voice of Mean Green.

This thread just blows me away...certain things I can at least see one's side and disagree, but this is just beyond comprehendable. You need help.

I voiced and listed reasons for my opinion. You all have the right to think and say what you want. I have no problem with that. If Dunham continues, and I am sure he will, to be the play by play announcer then so be it. I can live with that. However, I personally think we can do a lot better in both image and voice and I also have a right to my opinion. I also think a change is long over due. I think we can improve our image in this area regardless of what anyone else thinks.

It's time for a new image and a new voice representing UNT Athletics.
