Kinne Named Head Football Coach At Sherman

Ok, I know this isn't really UNT-related, but 99% of the posts on the "Non-UNT Sports" forum aren't sports-related either.

Anyway, for those of you that don't know/don't recall, Gary Joe Kinne was the head coach at Canton back in 2005 (prior to that he was an excellent LB at North Mesquite HS and Baylor). As Canton's head coach, he was shot by a player's parent who was, apparently, angry over playing time. His son, GJ Kinne, was a standout QB and originally attended and planned to play at Texas. After his redshirt season, GJ decided to transfer to Tulsa and should be contending for the starting QB position this season.

After coaching in California for just over 1 year, I guess he wanted to get back to Texas and possibly watch his son play in a few games. Congrats to Gary Joe on his new job as AD and head coach at Sherman. Sherman is always competitive in 9-4A and generally produces a handful of FBS prospects each year. It would certainly be worth our time to recruit the Sherman-Denison area.
