A person with knowledge of the situation said Saturday that former Tennessee Titans quarterback Steve McNair has been shot and killed.

Nashville police spokesman Don Aaron confirmed that police were called to a residence and found McNair and a woman shot to death inside. Aaron said authorities don't yet know the circumstances of the shooting. . . .

The Titans, then still the Houston Oilers, made McNair the No. 3 overall selection in the 1995 NFL Draft out of Alcorn State.

Long recognized as one of the toughest quarterbacks in football, McNair finished his career with 31,304 passing yards, 174 touchdowns and 119 interceptions. He guided the Titans to the playoffs four times in his 11 seasons with the franchise.

Titans owner Bud Adams confirmed the quarterback's death in a brief statement released Saturday.

Adams called him "one of the finest players to play for our organization and one of the most beloved players by our fans. He played with unquestioned heart and leadership and led us to places that we had never reached, including our only Super Bowl."

Really sad to hear.

I hope this one does not turn in to a can of worms, miss deeds, intimacy drama, and everything else that can go with it.

From what I've been reading, it's kind of a Phil Hartman situation. Any seediness and drama isn't really tied to McNair.

I am confused though, the Yahoo ! article says he was dating a D&B Server, yet also mentions he is married with 4 kids, so which is it? Was he in an open marriage or what? Still a tragic story and think it will probably be a murder-suicide in the end.

Some married people date other people. Most married celebrities date other people, either openly or not.

A sister or aunt of the girl said McNair told the girlfriend he was in process of getting a divorce and it would be finalized within two weeks. Media said there was no divorce pending in Nashville, but it could be filed somewhere else, and his house was up for sale. Still, dating a 20-year-old in that situation was going to lead to nothing but trouble.

Not Bon Jovi.....

Funniest thing I heard all day. Dude: where the hell did this come from. Say it isn't so, I suppose you took "I'll be there for you", "Always", or "Never Say Goodbye" to heart and overlooked: "In and Out of Love", "Lay your hands on me", and "Love for sale".

Anyway, keep the faith, and have a nice day.

LMAO.

Heard that the girl purchased the handgun 2 days ago... at age 20. Good thing she abided by those gun control laws.

Just think - if he knew her just four years ago...we'd have another chance to agree on my signature. Ain't life funny?

More like eight years ago, but, hey, 12 year olds and 16 year olds are the same, right?

Just another guy who seemingly has no clue what a zipper can do for you. And, what about those marriage vows? All the media will talk about is what a great guy he was in the community and how great a QB he was, etc., etc. How about how great he was around the house and with his kids while he was spending time with his "mistress"????? Gee, what about that? My heart goes out to Mrs McNair (reports say she knew nothing about the affair) andf to the McNair children. Too bad they find out about their husband and Dad from media reports of an affair "gone way bad".

I am saddened by the death of Steve McNair. What he was doing is no reason for murder, a divorce that takes him to the cleaners, ridicule in the media, a bit of fence mending with the kids, etc. perhaps, but murder...NEVER.

The whole thing could have been avoided if he just kept his pants zipped and was really the MAN he wanted people to think he was...real men do not have affairs and do not cheat on their wives and kids!

You want some "strange"...get a divorce first! It's getting real tiring reading about these guys who cheat...BUMS ALL!
