A horrible decision. Sorry, but mid-day on August 1st is the worst time for a cookout. Two years ago, we baked on the back patio of the AC. Last year, they got smart and moved it to the other side and scheduled it when the sun was behind the building.

Good grief, they must be trying to give us old folks heat stroke! Why not Saturday evening? We'll probably show up to get our season tickets, but don't know how long 'll be able to take the heat. Just an FYI, I did confirm that Football 101 will be Thursday, July 30 at 6pm.

Ouch, that's the same day as that new toll bridge over Lake Lewisville race. I'd do the 5k but I'm flying back home the night before and not sure I'll be un-jet lagged yet. Maybe I'll just do the 1 mile race and see how quickly I can go.

Hey, it's not THAT bad at 9:00AM for a 5K. I recently won...yes, I said won...my age group in a local 5K that benefited the Sociology Dept. at UNt tahtw as run at Northlakes Pary starting at 8:30AM. If you are going to have a run, morning is better than evening. And, I am probably as old or older than most on this board, so if I can handle the heat, you can too! Trust me...if you are a runner/walker/jogger and have been getting your runs in then you should have no problem. Now, will i run in this 5K...don't know as yet, but I am giving it serious consideration.

By the way...my time beat every male in the 15-19 year age catagory too. If I were one of those runners, I would really hang my head in shame! Ha! Can you imagine that...Anyway, run or not...come on out to the MEAN GREEN KICK-OFF event, pick up your season tickets (you did purchase season tickets, right?) and have a great time with your fellow GMG.com'ers and members of the Mean Green Nation. This is great news as it means Mean Green football is "just around the corner".

Ok, it's June 26th and in downtown Fort Worth it was 87 degrees at 9:00 am. It's now ( at 10:46 am) 95 degrees. As I recall, August is the hottest month of the summer. I hope you make a good choice.

No problem...I am playing golf this afternoon...and I will be walking and carrying my bag. Golf was made to walk! I am mindful of the dangers and take "proper" precaution, but refuse to let the Texas heat screw up my golf games. Born here, raised here...Texas is hot in the summer...still ... life goes on. So, will you visit me in the hospital if I collapse with heat stroke this afternoon...or will you celebrate that I would be unable to post on GMG.com for a few days?????

If I was a football player reading about people bitching about a 1 or 5K in the heat followed by a BBQ, I would laugh pretty hard, then think abut how this is where people gather on the internet to criticize me and then come after each of you with a spiked mace aimed at your crotch. In the heat.

I don't celebrate people's misfortunes, unless the misfortune took place during the commission of some evil deed.....then it's KARMA....and I always celebrate that!

are they going to have a section of tables set away from everyone else for those that would like to run in the 5k and attend the luncheon? i would like to do both, but i wouldn't want to offend anyone with my possible body odor or sweat, then multiply me by however many do the run as well...that should ruin some appetites.
