And the Gaudeloupean will lead them to the title! Just please keep him away from Crystal Taylor.

At 24 (or 22) you're probably not going to find a game changer...but you can find someone who can slide in immediatly and improve your team...look no further than last year's 22nd overall pick, Sun Belt's own Courtney Lee. There were kids who can do that this year available at 24...Blair, Young, Budinger, Summers, Brown, and Jermaine Taylor just off the top of my head...instead, Donnie gets cute once again and takes a guy with a high ceiling, lots of intangibles and an "amazing" 8ppg, 2apg stat line. For a point guard...2 assists...really?

To make matters worse, San Antonio...without a first round pick mind you...has a top 15 talent land in their lap as the rest of the NBA GM;s do their best Chris Burke - Helen Keller lovechild interpretation.

Letting Sam Young and Jermaine Taylor by really irks me. These guys would start at the 2 next season and give you a hell of a lot more than Antoine Wright. Budinger is a great shooter and athlete who if he left as a freshman last year was projected as a lottery pick. Summers and Brown would've given you 6'8", 6'9" athletes with versitile games. All wouldve made the roster and 4 of these 5 will contribute for someone next season.

I'm waiting up for their second round pick, but it'll probably just be some euro that they stash once again and we never here from again.

Yet another disappointing Mavs draft night...at least they dealt Mullens, I was livid when I pictured another tall, white dude in a mav uni

The only thing driving me is that the Okafur rumors won't go away. This is terrible.

On the plus side, on Twitter, Cuban said he got the guy he wanted - and a pick!

Is it just me or are his Tweets just HDNET porn?

more than satisfactory blog, though.

In the plus side, there will be some interesting guys who go undrafted...Dionte Christmas, Leo Lyons, Jerel McNeal, Jeff Adrian, Curtis Jerrells amd Josh Heytvelt would all be worth bringing in for the summer league team

So Dirk's kid will be, what, 5 years old before any of these guys contribute? Winter's coming and the window is closing.

Calathas is NBA ready...but he's already signed with a Greek team and he'll go play there for a year. I was really afraid that the Mavs were gonna blow their 1st round on Calathas, so to steal him mid-way through the 2nd is a nice pick. The Mavs were talking about Beaubois coming over this season...I doubt it...and if he does he'll be the 12-15th man on the bench. He's got a ton of potential, but I don't think he's NBA ready. Nivins is a big body with a good motor, but I didn't see his name on anyone's draft board.

Oh great, another guard.

It addresses a need. There was no center worth taking at 24...Mullens is a joke and any other big is a 4, a position that is back-logged on the Mavs if you re-sign Bass. This team needs a PG and it seems they believe Beaubois will be over this season.

That said, Id still much rather have had Sam Young or Jermaine Taylor upgrading the 2 spot.

BAD DRAFT for the Mavs IF you want to win now. Seems the division competition keeps getting stronger and stronger while the Mavs "stand pat". Standing pat will not get it done in a league where one guy can make so much difference. Just what the Mavs needed a guard that will take a couple of years to "groom". SUPER! DIRK AIN'T GETTING ANY YOUNGER.

Hopefully, what they are really focused on is the free agent market...but, who is out there they may have a shot at that could be an impact player for them?

They have several soon to expire contracts to play with and the MLE to deal with the immediate. None of the other guys CBL mentioned are likely to be a front of rotation for anyone and there are plenty of guys out there that are supposedly being shopped. Omeka Okafor is my favorite rumor, but you also have Tyson Chandler, the corpse of T-Mac (who gets a ton of money off the books if you gamble on him), Felton, Josh Smith, Camby, Kaman. MLE guys include Rasheed Wallace (if he goes to the Spurs, that's crazy), Bird Man, Ariza and Barnes. Moves can be made to upgrade this team or at least start the remodeling process, but I am losing faith in their ability to do it.

Also, although I stress I am not a fan of what the Mavs did, I liked this look at it how they did it: http://www.dallasbasketball.com/fullColumn.php?id=1764
