We hear about the stupid criminals, but what about the victims?

A couple told police their 18-year-old daughter stole about $15,000 from their bank accounts and attempted to hock her mother’s wedding ring and her grandmother’s ring at a pawnshop, according to a police report.

From December until April, the parents said they discovered money was being transferred from their savings and investment accounts to an account belonging to their teenage daughter, the report stated.

Their daughter said it was probably a mistake and transferred all but $15,000 back in their accounts.

A 20-year-old woman told police she was swindled out of about $2,000 Saturday after she tried to purchase a Siberian husky puppy over the Internet from Nigeria, according to a police report. The woman sent four separate wire transfers and said she still hasn’t received the puppy.

------------

A 29-year-old woman told police she was sexually assaulted after she left a bar with a stranger early Saturday morning.

------------

A woman reported Thursday that someone kicked in her apartment door while her boyfriend was taking a nap.

The woman said she went to work, leaving the boyfriend asleep on the couch. He told her that he heard a knocking at the door and did not answer.

Suddenly, the sound of the door being kicked startled him, and the door burst open. A woman saw him there, said she was at the wrong apartment, and fled.

A man told police Wednesday evening that another man pointed a gun at him twice and threatened to kill him if he didn’t hand over his Social Security check when it arrives later this month.

The victim said he has a relationship with a prostitute. She brought the other man with her when she came to visit June 4. The other man walked into the bathroom and took six of the victim’s hydrocodone capsules, according to the report.

The victim said the man then pointed a gun at his head and demanded the prescription when it is renewed, along with the Social Security check.

The victim saw the other man again Wednesday, and the man renewed the threat, according to the report.

A woman called 911 from a bus Wednesday, saying the driver exposed himself to her as she boarded.

A woman reported to Denton County sheriff’s deputies that she was bilked in a scam after trying to sell a ring online. The complainant said a woman offered to buy the ring for $350 but sent a cashier’s check for $850, asking that the rest of the money be sent to the buyer’s granddaughter.

Later, the complainant’s bank informed her that the cashier’s check was a forgery. She already had mailed the ring, so she lost it and the $500 from her bank account.

A man told police Tuesday night that he had been allowing a man to stay at his house. Earlier that evening, the other man allowed several other people into the house while he was away, the man reported. When he returned, he discovered the other people had stolen about $200 worth of his groceries.

He wants the other man to leave now, he reported.

Officers responding to a report of a woman being thrown from a moving car Tuesday evening found a scratched and bruised woman who said her former boyfriend stole her car.

The woman said the man asked her to give him a ride to the area so he could catch another ride with his sister. She agreed, but they argued on the way. When they arrived in a parking lot in front of a strip shopping center, she told him to get out of the car. He refused.

She jabbed at him with a pencil, causing minor injuries, according to the report.

Then she took the keys and got out of the car. He chased her, and they struggled over the keys. He bit her hands to make her let go of the keys, she said.

He jumped into the driver’s seat and started the car. She jumped into his lap to keep him from stealing the car, she said. He threw her out and drove away, according to the report.

The man eventually returned with the car. He told police that she must have fallen out of the car. The woman did not want to press charges.

I always read the "Blotter" in the DRC. It is a great source of "stupid human" happenings and makes one wonder WHAT WERE THEY THINKING???? In most cases, they were not thinking at all. Shows you how really stupid some folks can be when it comes to just the basics of "common sense". really funny stuff sometimes...if it were not so sad!

The police blotter is usually one of my wife's favorite items to read....especially in small town and/or resort town papers. Between the stupid stuff that the police deal with, and the stupid stuff that firemen deal with, I would seriously doubt that either of them would feel the need to ever go to a comedy club.
