This year we have six home game. The non-conference home games are against teams we should have a chance to compete with (Army & Ohio). Army should bring in a large crowd like Navy did a few years ago. There is no Thanksgiving weekend home game to ruin our average. So, will North Texas set a new record for average attendance this season?

I'll say we average 19,750 a game for the season. Over 20,000, if we win more then 2 of the first 6 games.

No, the WKU and ULM game will be the two that hurt us the most. I expect more than 20k for homecoming and army and around 18-19k for the Ohio and MTSU games, but that won't be enough to pull up the average to above 20k. I'm guessing 18000-18500 for an average, unless we pull in 5-7 wins then it will be close to 20k.

1997 - 19,704

1977 - 19,599

1994 - 19,517

Is the 1977 figure really true - that we averaged 19,599 at Fouts (capacity 20,000 at that time)? If so, then every game was basically a sellout?

Given our poor records over the past 4 years, our average attendance hasn't been too bad (I think maybe around 17,500 over the past 4 years)?

I think our attendance over this period given the product put on the field is nothing short of miraculous. Kudos to the A.D. staff for a job well done!!!

Two games were played at Texas Stadium. SMU & UT Arlington. SMU attendance was 26,097. Don't know the UTA attendance but our game with them at Texas Stadium in 1979 drew 21,800. This 1977 team was ranked #16 in the final Coaches poll. 10-1 record (Lost to Florida State and converted a 17-15 loss to Miss State to a win due to a forfit)

I think we need to ask ourselves what is UNT's attendance? Should we look for attendance records if its the away team who is brining in the fans. I know we cannot track that figure, but even if the Army game is sold out this year, and majority is for Army, is that a win for UNT?

Yep, sure is. In the grand scheme of things who cares who's fans they are. If we are bringing in the other teams fans then we are bringing in the other teams money too. Perhaps we can make a few converts on the way. With the fans coming in and the numbers going up then the rest of the NT fan base might start taking more interest
