---They also claim to be conservative.. but the last President doubled the national debt... which means he equaled the budget overruns equal to the ENTIRE 42 previous Presidents COMBINED..

As a democrat, you really should not be throwing any stones when it comes to deficit spending.

Daily Journal - White House: Budget deficit to top $1.8 trillion

The deficit for the current budget year will rise by $89 billion to above $1.8 trillion — about four times the record set just last year. The unprecedented red ink flows from the deep recession, the Wall St. bailout, the cost of President Barack Obama’s economic stimulus bill, as well as a structural imbalance between what the government spends and what it takes in.

Annual deficits would never dip below $500 billion and would total $7.1 trillion over 2010-2019. Even those dismal figures rely on economic projections that are significantly more optimistic — just a 1.2 percent decline in gross domestic product this year and a 3.2 percent growth rate for 2010 — than those forecast by private sector economists and the Congressional Budget Office.

I'd love to hear from someone how we're going to pay down all this debt we've built up over time. Debt service is part of the budget, and we're paying out tons of money to manage what we have now. Something is going to have to give if we continue to take on more and more debt going forward.

---No Democrat has been anywhere CLOSE to the Bush spending. He totalled the debt of all 42 previous Presidents combined which includes all Democrats, Republican, Whigs etc.

---The debt and Obama.. I have no idea... but it is not going to be pretty.... Bush left America an awful mess to straighten up. His philosophy was "tax less" (especially the extremely wealthy, not so much the middle class which most of us are members) then "spend more" and "run up the debt".

Face reality... he was no conservative... his budget over-runs were something we had never seen before by anyone of either party.. and we will get to pay.

My demand for respect was not directed at you. Thank you for your Jr. High response anyway.

Silver,

Was that a shot at Rudy's height or his intelligence?

Well, last time I checked, you couldnt demand respect. And I was more curious if you had some sort of ultimatium. Thats what it kind of sounded like.

Silver,

Was that a shot at Rudy's height or his intelligence?

Oh DAMN, that was a good one. I havent been hearing that one since elementary. Got any Titanic jokes while we are coming up with new s**t

And, since I got my degree from the same university as you, I would truly hope that you arent implying that my level of intelligence is that of a middle school student. This would not only undermine YOUR intelligence, but undermine your degree as well. Nicely thought response.

And since you have been throwing out alot of name calling, I would have thought you had enough practice to come up with something that was more original, and just plain better than a simple shot at my height. Yes, I am short. Thanks for pointing out the obvious. That is something a 12 year old can notice. I would have hoped that you, being a UNT alum, would be above taking aim at something that one can not control. Im guessing you go around poking fun at mentally retarted children as well? I mean, its not like they can control their situation.

No Vern Troyer reference? Hell, if I was black, you would probably come up with some lame ass Gary Coleman jokes.

I might be willing to make the bet that Obama will have out spent every previous Democrat as well after he's finished with however many terms we're up to choosing him to serve.

Of course it won't be pretty. We'll be saddled with so much debt that we'll have one of two choices: 1) raise the effective tax rate on everyone that collects a check; or 2) cut government spending to pay down debt. My bet is both will happen.

Obama is following the same policy Bush used, cut taxes and spend more. Remember, he promised a tax cut to 95% of working Americans and has increased our spending ... but I thought Obama was about change? Seems like the same policy as the previous administration to me. You dog on Bush for this yet Obama is using the exact same playbook. WTH? How is following the path really going to straighten up this mess we're in?

Face reality... he was no conservative... his budget over-runs were something we had never seen before by anyone of either party.. and we will get to pay.

And we will pay with Obama's spending as well. We're looking at a health care program that no one knows will cost us and how it will be paid for.

I am facing reality. Our government hasn't learned a damned thing in regards to what put our economy in this awful state. Debt spending is unsustainable. IT. WILL. RUIN. THIS. COUNTRY. The moment ... the instant ... we can't get anyone to buy up our debt (or worse ... someone tries to collect on a note we've sold), we're done for. The only ones left to bail out the government is us ... the taxpayers ... and we will pay handsomely for the decades we've carelessly spent money we didn't have.

Actually, one of his two options are to tax everyone that collects a check or print(monetize the economy) money. Higher taxes or higher inflation, or both?

And yes Reagan spent money and we can point to the positive outcomes because of it. As Peter J. Wallison writes:

During Reagan's presidency, the United States shook off more than a decade if economic stagnation and began a 20 year period of almost uninterrupted growth; U.S. companies became highly efficient and competitive globally, leaving other nations and regions far behind; the free market system Reagan had championed became the model for economic reform, replacing government-directed or socialist economics around the world; the Soviet Empire----the "evil empire" so famously identified by Ronald Reagan----the chief superpower rival of the United States, came apart shortly after (with the Soviet Union itself following three years later---an outcome many independent observers credited to Reagan's eight years of relentless pressure); and the American people returned from a period of self-doubt and timidity to their accustomed self confidence and sense of optimism.6 At the same time, the huge government deficits----cited by many as a result of Reagan's purportedly misguided policies----left no discernible scar on the American economy...

No, that was more original and took more thought than what you came up with.

So then, you only call out people when their jokes are bad? That doesn't even make sense. Actually, that's just worse than tossing around uneven criticism.

No, I was calling him out becuase it was very weak, and the name he used was very irrelevant. He should have attempted to use more thought and more originality.

Hey, like I told MGD, Im just tired of really bad jokes and name calling. I mean hell, we are already at each other's throats and its not even mid June. We might as well get some quality laughs or half of the MG fan base will have killed each other by the time next season starts.

But I thought once TTG and I got banned this place would go back to being a magical land of unicorns and rainbows. I mean, WE were the problem...

--- The decade of growth you refered to hasd to do with the development of the internet, the increased use of computers in homes, schools and business, and even the massive increase of cell-phone use... all of which boomed the tech industry and telecommunication area. It increased so much that most areas codes had to split into several additional ones...mine split three ways. The internet did exist in a primitive form during that Reagan era but was a "government only" communications network. It went public in 1994 due to the work of a Senator that I am sure you know about because of an odd comment he made that has been altered by the radio idiots. He stated created [by legislation] not invented. Reagan had nothing to do with the boom... in fact until last year (under Bush) the largest one day drop in the stock madket (even percent-wise) occured duing his term. I am sure you know that since you have a good degree from North Texas but if you just missed it, Look it up. It is true. .

He would not have spent 80 percent of the time being a scapegoat, if he'd spent more time being the president.

It's nice that you wanted to vote for him again, but the constitution only allows 8 years. ;)

More people consider him a scapegoat than the [former] President.

Oh my god, could you be more clueless?

Plus your rant about the Internet, maybe you missed the end of the cold war? The Internet didn't even get rolling as an economic factor until the late 90's so maybe three years of the 20 years that is talked about. And Gore was a long shot from the only influence on the Internet and how it was used.
