Earnie and Jay (KRLD) were discussing this on their show today. After laughing about the statement, they said that the guy who runs IBM declared that he didn't know anything about computers when he took over 20 years ago. They concluded that CEO's know about being CEO's....and that's it.

Some of Ed Wallace's thoughts on GM.

I guess there really isn't any change...

A statement from someone who CLEARLY doesn't know squat about the Auto business. Rick Wagoner and Bob Lutz (the two guys running GM during recent history) had made HUGE strides in correcting what was wrong with what they could at GM, mainly their product. GM product of 2009 compared to 1999 is like night and day. GM holds more top spots in JD Power and Associates than Toyota and Honda COMBINED and smokes both Ford and Chrysler in terms of quality.

The problems GM has today is not a result of bad products coming out today, but rather an uneducated consumer who still thinks jap cars are better than GM products and union contracts that were made 3 CEO's ago.

...and now that the Government owns 'em, I expect all of the steps forward taken by Lutz and Wagoner will be destroyed within 2 years time.

My Tahoe is great, 2002 and just about no trouble even at 8 years old and close to 90,000. I have had a battery go bad and a window wash fluid container crack.

Gm makes nice trucks/suvs but their cars seemed to be lacking. Not as much in quality as in appearance.

When did the tax payers have to bail out IBM? I'm glad this is all so funny for some? Must be why so few listen to KRLD anymore?

Camaro, Malibu, G8, Lacrosse, CTS... I'd take another look. These are all some really great looking cars, and I'd take any of them over their Jap counterparts. ...but apperance to me is subjective. I think the Camary is about he ugliest thing on the road, yet they outsell everything. Go figure.
