It is not government run health care, just changing the way in which the government tells the Heath Care Industry how to do business. Regulations are not all bad.

I like that the Government is not running the system, just playing in the game. I would like to know what the Affordable Access plan entails, that is a little awkward in that no details are given other than it would cap its costs at 10% higher than Medicare will pay. Where is the Government going to get the money for this plan? What stipulations are going to be put on coverage, are there going to be incentives for getting off the government run plan, can we make it like the welfare to work program where you get two years of government "Affordable Access" and then if after two years you are taken out of the program?

This was stated to be a Draft of a Draft.... Additionally several mentions were made of efforts towards bipartisan cooperation in this effort. Lets give this a little time and see how it develops.

We need to find a way to lower pharmaceutical costs, lower the amount of money being charged in lawsuits, or provide more stringent penalties for filing frivolous lawsuits and redesign the way in which the industry's cost structure is created. If adding an addition governmental entity is needed to achieve the overall goal of a healthy populous then we need to make certain that there is a plan to pay for it that doesn't include printing new money...

Oh yeah, I am also a big fan of the emphasis on preventative health care. This country needs to fight obesity, and other preventable conditions and that, more than anything else, will help lower health care costs.
