More Evidence Of Global Warming

This thread is gold. I don't think that either side has the answers, but everyone claims to. How can both sides be right? Everyone seems to have this or that supported fact. It is a conundrum. Don't think about it too hard, you're head might explode.

Exactly, which then gives way to the question as to why we would destroy our engergy industry when we don't know 100%. Yet even though we don't know 100% congress is still preparing to go forward with Cap and Trade as soon as they can. Of course I believe Socialized Health Rationing will come first and foremost this summer, but that's just me?

Any theory that demands blind faith to the point of ridiculing those who dare to question is not based on science.
We have real data that challenges the theory of man-made global warming:
FACT: earth temperatures have been cooling since 2002.
FACT: when temperatures were rising, similar observations were made of Jupiter
FACT: ...and Mars (National Geographic link)
FACT: ...and Triton (MIT link)
FACT: sea levels are not rising
FACT: polar ice caps are expanding, not shrinking
I think based on the conflicting observations, all we can know for sure is that science, shockingly, does NOT have all the answers.

Great articles, I particularly liked the sea levels, I keep hearing 25,000 scientists have petitioned to say the models used by IPCC are wrong but is does not seem to put a dent in the BS.

Did anyone see the future docudrama/political indoctrination special on ABC the other night that basically says society will desinigrate by 2040 because of Global Warming? My personal favorite part was when they showed a clip of Barak Obama praising Greensburg, Kansas for rebuilding green after being wiped out in 2007 by a tornado (Couldn't show Bush heaping the same praise on the town, while actually in the town, because that would not have fit the politics of the program).

The show was a cartoon that basically followed a child born this year through her life. Message - We are all gasoline addicted losers who will pay the consequences with the destruction of society by 2040. So freaking stupid.

Like anyone could ever know that (which is also my quote for this thread).

Oh, and perhaps they may have considered using a clip from Bush's graduation speech at Greensburg High School, encouraging the Green rebuild (see below). Naw, that just wouldn't quite fit the producer's agenda.

There's a local liberal woman I'm friends with whose kids attend the same school and music school as mine that proudly wore her Obama T shirts everyday during the election and we had some interesting debates leading up to the election. And you know it's not hard to get a liberal wound up about politics...LOL!, and Man Made Global Warming is no different.

So this year on Earth Day(Hate The Human's Day) our kiddos had music school together and when she pulled up I asked her if she "slept ok the night before?" She looked at me surprised and asked why? I said, "well, considering your driving around in that thing on Earth Day, do you think Al Gore would be pleased with you. I don't think so?" The immediate look on the woman's face was nothing short of outrage and if looks could kill?????........because she drives none other than a Ford Excursion.......DIESEL!, in which she reluctantly tells me is getting about 9 miles to the gallon right now. When I finally got her to realize I was just funning with her and for her to take a breath because she was turning blue, she proceeded to tell me all about Man Made Global Warming, yet even though she's the one driving an Excursion continued to tell me how my views on the subject was killing the Earth and so on and so on and added the statement: You know, your's and my kids, we are all going to be dead by 2030 because of it!" And I'm telling you, she was damn serious about every bit of it.

She was very defensive about the Excursion and started blaming Rick Perry and the republican run state of Texas(of course :rolleyes: ) because of some new law that supposedly didn't allow her to by Bio Deisel in our area any more, which she stated was the reason she bought the Excursion in the first place,...to be Earth Friendly. I finally got her to realize that she was looking at it all wrong, that "you don't buy an Excursion Diesel to be Earth Friendly, you buy an Excursion because of the need for you and your kids(all 4 of them) to have a safer and best chance to live and see 2030 due to the safety factor built into driving such a large vehicle. I told her she was smart for such a wise decision in purchasing such a large vehicle for her family, and she seemed to agree?

Last I saw her she was still driving it, and she waved so I guess we are still friends?

Here is a good argument for electric cars and new technologies that are not fuel based. We quit sending our f**** money to the middle east!!!!!!!!!

That is a good arguement for electric cars and new technologies that are not fuel based. But those technologies cannot currently sustain nor grow our nation as it is today. So until that Utopian time is realized, why not spend our money here by drilling here? We can't, and who's fault is that?

Nice post, at least until the moron comment. Maybe we conservatives don't like being lied to for the supposed greater good. I'm all for any alternative energy source that can EFFECTIVELY replace this country's dependancy on middle east oil. Until that time is here, we need to use the resorces available to us.

You guys know we only get 7% of USA's foreign bought oil from the Middle East, and that works out to only 3% of our oil supply and that was a year and a half ago when we were at our peak in oil consumption. After the fall out in oil I bet it less to none, just because of shipping costs, but I have not seen any recent stats.

You know a skunk, spraying, stinks to most folks but if you have not smelled it in years, because now you live in the city, the aroma is quite refreshing and reasuring that everything is ok with life in our God created universe. The same goes with the stink in Baytown. In reality, do you really want that stink to go away? If it does then we are all driving "eco-friendly" some sort of type hybrid cars that most Americans do not, rationally, want......especially FFR eco-green-friendly-nine miles to the gallon soccer mom type. Hypocrits!!! What is best for the country is not best for them and subsequently wants to be politically excluded from these types of draconian legislative restraints.

With crude prices increasing daily what makes you think it will not reach what it did a year ago. $5.00+ a gallon for gas and $6.00 a gallon for diesel for FFR's eco friendly soccer mom changes a LOT of ATTITUDES about DRILLING. EEALLY, what happened to the price of consumer goods when gas / diesel went through the roof last year??? You got to think, man. Do you want history to repeat itself, again, again and again.......and for some liberal socialists not learn anything from it????

Middle eastern people cool people minus the terrorists. got to agree with you on that. wish i could wear one of those cool robes to work....are they kinda like the scottish and don't wear underware underneath the robes??? does anyone know??? this is not a brokeback mountain type of question. my only fear is that the robe may get clogged in my shifter or tires or something when i'm ridding on the trinity bike trails. i like this time of year on the bike trails to look at all those great looking female bodies, half naked, mostly all firm and tan that i would not otherwise see if they had to wear some kind of burka. man, i bet that would be hot as hades to run in. I have only known a hand full of middle eastern types in my life and all said they have no desire to go back to the comforts of the 11th century and their intolerance for what we Americans see as petty crime. I guess that is one way to control the population. By the way I hate taxes...I dont want anymore taxes....I am against taxes.......Obama has not raised any taxes on the middle class whatso ever and as a matter of fact has cut taxes and why you don't see that and still get tea bagged by sean hannity I don't see why or how you continue to make that argument.

Really. No new taxes? Instead they propose to charge a fee to farmers and ranchers (per Cow or Pig) after all these beasts stand around all day

farting in their fields. These fees will be passed on to the consumer. So, anyone who eats meat, drinks milk, or likes yogart

will pay more. It is the coffers of government that will benefit from these fee's that rich and poor alike will have the privilage of paying.

But hey, it's not really a tax. Is it? Carry on.

If you hate taxes so much, as you state, why do you support them in your rebutal??

1. Isn't bailing out the Chevy Suburban a TAX? where do you think that money is going to come from???

2. Only a liberal would care how much profit Haliburton and Exxon makes. Heck, at least they turn around and reinvest in technology. I believe you can find substantial evidence, even from the earlier posts on this board on this very same topic, that Starbucks makes more, percentage wise, than the two evil oil companies on a percentage basis. Why not tax the heck out of Starbucks??? What you are talking about here is PURE old fashion "REDISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH." Hipocritial of you even to mention this. You mention printing money......Obama's administration has BORROWED MORE money than all the other presidents put together.....that is from George Washington to George Bush. Borrowed money has to be paid back in the form of taxation. Glad you don't like taxes......because everyone will have to pay somehow in the form of higher gas, food, other consumable and non consumable goods.

I liked these this passage.

"Nourished by Andean snowmelt, the glacier constantly grows even as it spawns icebergs the size of apartment buildings into a frigid lake, maintaining a nearly perfect equilibrium since measurements began more than a century ago."

After reading the article, the image I had was a bunch of environmental "scientists" standing around dumbfounded scratching their heads looking at the glacier and wondering why the facts don't match up with their strongly held beliefs. I mean, how could this be? Oh well, I'm sure they thought, global climate change works in mysterious ways.
