Half of the American people are in such awe of this individual that they are blinded to the truth and therefore see no reason for action as they unknowingly cheer their own demise. The other half of America is in total shock, paralyzed as they watch in disbelief, the complete overthrow of the Government of the United States of America.

God help us. It is here! We were warned by our Founding Fathers of this day.

You know. I kind of felt the same way after election day in 04.

I thought it was what the Federalists were saying would happen if the Godless Jefferson and his Democratic-Republicans got in.

At least there's one good thing about the Obama Presidency: If he keeps up his Marxist crap....we'll soon have UNT alumni chapters in New Zealand, Australia, Canada, The Cayman Islands, Costa Rica, etc etc etc.

G'day mates.

Sounds like a familiar sentiment. Perhaps you'll run into Alec Baldwin or Sean Penn.

As for the sentiment that half of America is voting for its own demise, I give you:

Whoever it was on here, I think it was UNT90, that said politics has become little more than cheerleading for your own side was wise.

And finally, Costa Rica is one hell of a righteous place where I would love to live no matter who's in the White House. The downside is that I don't recall seeing any pie, Boston, pecan or otherwise, at all down there.

The Daily Mirror is a British publication. I don't get how a British publication saying that half of America was wrong.....is the same as almost half of America's voters saying that the other half was wrong. Not exactly the same thing.

Without citing the stories posted on here from British sources about how even the UK sees how we're going to Hell in a hand basket, it's just another example of polarization. I just really don't believe that deep down Americans are so divided against each other. I think far, far too many of us are guilty of picking a side and going with the extremities fed to us by the media and the party talking heads. It's unfortunate.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The United States hasn't had a president that everybody loved, with the possible exception of Reagan (who definitely had detractors), in any time during the past hundred years, yet the country always manages to get through it. This isn't the end of days, the rapture isn't here, and they're not going to be handing out the mandatory hammer and sickle at Home Depot any time soon.

Does anyone recall watching the Channel 13 "CEO" feature on President Bataille, mentioning that we have something like 1,000 alumni (and active alumni!) in Thailand? I know there are problems with globalization, but folks, it has a lot of potential upside for our alma mater! One problem might be traveling to sports events; being part of an airline family, I can see spending months at a time in places like you've mentioned John, but I do enjoy fall and winter in Texas. Also, the early part of spring with its wildflowers is great.

This is the continuation of Fabian Socialism. A little at a time. Kinda like the story of the frog who jumped in warm water and sat their long enough until he was cooked.

The Brits are warning us, along with others, the path that we are headed down. The Fabians started becoming a party around the turn of the 1900s. The Fabians took over the Labor Party through social reforms and has carried on until today. Fabianism's goal is not to gain power Bolshevic style but gradually over time, incramentally, methodically and until anybody realizes what has happened...it has happened. Our brand started with FDR with all the social policies that he implemented and let LBJ take it to the next level via Civil Rights. Today schools preach diversity, human relativism, revisionist history and practice other religions except Christianity. Now Obama is driving the final wooden stake in our republic with the help of both parties by blatently taking over our economic system (banks), the auto industry, giving labor parties more power, implementing AmeriCorp, preaching all nations are equal (redistribution of wealth), refusing to drill, became the largest borrower of all presidents put together and his roots are muslim and socialist through association. He is definitely not articulate and definitely can not think on his feet.........oh yea ..... the teleprompter makes him sound good.

Did the Republicans ever undo what FDR or LBJ did with the massive amounts of American capital and tax payer money. No. They went along with the plan. Have the Republicans undone any social reforms (redistribution of wealth) since LBJ. No.

Some of you socialist liberals will refute this but look at it this way.......you have already been trained by the government ideology and you don't know better. You accept and abide by the orders of the government for fear of being called racist, bigot, intollerant and homophobe. You run from those "pavlovian responses" as if you only had seconds to get back in your caskets before the sun rises, again. Instead of researching and thinking for yourself you let others do the thinking for you....namely the government. What cowards. You deserve to run with your tail between your legs and cower like a whipped pup.

There are some on this board who give warnings because they have taken time to read and research the issues & not only can think independently for themselves but are able to learn from the past as not to repeat it in the future. I would bet that these individuals are much older than the socialist liberals. Just a guess.

Because of these decisive issues we face today it is evident that these events are polarizing our nation as it has never happened before with the possible exception of our secessions with England and Lincoln. Historically, both were very similar in political aspects as much as we may see with our runaway government today.

Oh.

Obama, Zawahiri, Ahmedinejad, Fidel Castro, and Paris Hilton had a 6-pack and a bucket of chicken while in Cairo. I mean, judging from what I'm reading these days around here.

I think America is in pretty good shape. Like I posted earlier in this thread. The sky is not falling. Chill out. I am a proud American, and just because Obama is not telling the middle east that we are going to nuke them into oblivion in the name of Jesus doesn't mean we are losing face. If anything we are gaining more respect around the world(God forbid right?). The economy will pick up. You will still be able have a lavish Thanksgiving with your family every year, and spend too much at Christmas. America is a pretty fucking amazing place, and for you and those like you to pretend you have all of the answers about the future is pretty ignorant in my honest tax-paying opinion. Socialism will never replace capitalism in our consumer based society and you know it. never once did anyone in our goverment coem out and say we need to become a socialist country. That is simply a catch phrase that was drummed up last fall by the republicans in the McCain camp. It didn't work. Quit the scare tactics, and please realize that we are maturing as a nation and have to adapt to the global climate we live in, this isn't post WW2 America anymore, and why on earth do so many think we will ever, or ever want to get back to that point. Also I probably read more than most that post here and just because I tilt to the left doesn't mean I don't research facts and are simply follow what the idiot box tells me. The smugness you have as a conservative f'ing sickens me. Go watch more Glen Beck and get ready for Sunday service. You sir give conservatives a bad name. The republicans used to be the party of ideas and business, but now they are made up of jack-wads like yourself that can't come to terms that the world around you is changing, and hopefully for the better.

The economy is not doing well for a number of reasons - several outside of anything that the past 2 presidents have done while in office and you know it. If Bush were still president there is a pretty good chance the same crap would be happening, and you would champion the 'C' student at Yale for trying to sace Apple pie and Pickup trucks. I am sick of the cheerleading on both sides. We dealt with 8 years of GW and lived to tell about it. We will live with probably 8 more of Obama and be fine. Just because you didn't vote for the guy doesn't mean American life is going to hell. If you are asking for the check that is on you. I am staying and raising my children in the best God-damned country on this screwed up globe.

Go ahead and reply and call me a young wet-behind the ears liberal who is preaching secular nonsense. Don't really give two s's what you have to say.

We are maturing as a nation by giving up our Liberty's left and right?

And you read so much more than the rest of us here do but can't seem to argue your point without making personal attacks on others you disagree with.

I would suggest that since if reading from the informed sickens you so much then stop reading it. There's an ignore button feature that I'm certain someone so well read as yourself already knows about. Use it!

And by the way, GREAT POST EA!

I'm just offended that people such as Euless say that we don't think for ourselves. I probably tilt slightly left on the political spectrum so to euless I'm some uninformed noob. Listen, we know you hate the Great Society and New Deal. We know you wish you could go back to the Roaring 20's. I don't mean this as a sign of disrespect, but it's not like you were around back then either - so where do you get off telling us we lost our way as soon as FDR came into office? Hell, the USA didn't really ascend to be the dominant world power until after WWII - by which point we were already heading into the crapper apparently.

How does that work?

Yes, the Great Society was such a bad thing. The Civil Rights bills sure muddied things up didn't they? Hell, it was the first time our country really lived up to our freaking ideals. I understand a lot of the stuff in the GS were controversial. Alot of it still is. I'm not even on board with all of it per se. Believe it or not tho at the time we could afford all of it because we were doing that well(LBJ was near balancing the budget if I remember my readings). Think about all the stuff the GS had. Medicare/Medicaid/Food Stamps/welfare programs/National Endowments/etc - and we were spending God knows how much on Vietnam and NASA. Oh yes, when I was a very young child, I remember my folks being on food stamps to put food on the table for my brother and I. They didn't stay on them - by the time I was in 7th grade my father was running his own business. Not everyone leeches off the system, many do use those programs for what they were meant for. A hand up when times are tough, or you're starting out.

I'll tell you where the country lost its way(and I believe economically we have). When we stopped making things. The USA used to make the worlds cars, TV & radios. We used to provide the world's steel. We used to make planes. Now we don't make jack. We import everything and export nothing. Do you know what the biggest export the USA has? The film business! Granted since I'm sorta in the industry that's cool and all, but how pathetic is that? We shipped all our jobs overseas beginning in the 80's with Detroit, but moving more and more rapidly in the last 10-15 years to where you can't call a customer service line for any company without speaking to someone in India. Now we're just consumers. That is like rotting from the inside....a country that doesn't make anything and expects all the "lessers" to make our crap is doing what all the Empires from antiquity up until GBR did.

Whatever, I'm off topic and it's 2AM. I'm done for now.

If you handle your personal assests the way this county has handled it's finanacing, you would be living in a cardboard box. How the hell can anyone look at the national debt and then look at Pres. Obama's sending plan and say this country is in pretty good shape!! He is like an eighteen year old with her daddy's credit card, what does he care, it's not his money. On top of the debt, we have 9.4 % unemployment, highest in 25 years. But we are in "pretty good shape?" Let me ask you this, if someone had asked you in summer of 2007 (before anyone knew of the coming economical implosion), would you have said that this country was in pretty good shape? If your answer is no, your a political hypocrite who is always going to say that everything is great when the liberals are in power and everything sucks when conservatives are in power. And don't use Iraq as justification, because even after Pres. Obama was elected, we are still there (no suprise). I wonder if you felt America was in "pretty good shape" in October, 2008?

Do you really think the American government is going to come out and say "Hey, everyone, we are socialist!! Come join us." Pretty naive to think that any politician is going to tell you exactly how he thinks. My momma always told me that actions speak louder than words. The US Government now owns a huge chunk of the banking industry and a major automotive company, thats finance and transportation. They are greedily attempting to get thier hands on health care industry. I haven't researched it, but I'd bet that would be close to half of the American economy being controlled by the federal government, and that IS socialism. Your better argument, the one that Pres. Obama is making, by the way, would be that the fed govt is forced into these actions to save the economy (I don't believe that, but it is a much better argument).

Ok, you are a wet behind the ears liberal. Yes, as you get older you will become more conservative as you see how these things will affect your kids in the future. How conservative? Who knows. And yes, I know there are older liberals, but they are usually old, long-haired hippies that move to the West coast and join a commune, right CBL? ;)

And why does everyone on here have to get personal on these topics? It's stupid and immature (for both sides)

Such vehement reactions? This must have touched a nerve or something. I found this to be a rather clever post harking back to the early slogan of the Iraq war in an effort to describe what's going on in our country today. Well done meangreenbob.
