It's chickenshit. Obama has basically said the United States is abdicating its role as a superpower.

Pfft...You and your policy criticisms. The real media cover up is that he probably ordered falafel in Egypt and put ketchup on it!

Obama really is naive when it comes to foreign policy matters. Unfortunately, so is just about everyone he's appointed to foreign policy positions. It won't be long before we are reaping what he has sown in gathering less intelligence and being less vigilant about the more evil regimes around the world.

Again, world leaders must just be licking their chops every time he or Hillary Clinton walk through the door, frothing at the mouth with anti-Americanism and handing out cash from our recession-strapped taxpayers. It's a pitiful sight to behold.

You'd think the world - especially Western leaders - would have learned the hard lesson of appeasing tyrants by looking at Hitler and Nazi Germany. Unfortunately, for many of our policy leaders today, America's history began in the 1960s and they look no further back for guidance and example.

Ugh. It's just that the nation is so unstable right now, it's not the best idea to let them get their hands on nuclear material and nuclear power. If that nation topples on its own, who knows who'll step up into the power vacuum.

Chicken shit? Hardly. It's smart. He said no SINGLE country should decide who has the right to have nuclear weapons. No single country will decide. It will be NATO, the UN or the US and a couple of US allies. That's smart. Strength in numbers. If we go about blowing up Iran and N Korea by ourselves we will quickly be on our own island a much smaller island than we are currently on for past administration blunders. Diplomacy is the way you get people to do what you want when they don't want to. I believe diplomacy is something this administration is trying to restore after 8 years without any.

And by the way - who cares if we aren't the world's superpower? not a thing about our constitution says we should be a/the superpower. Nothing says we're suppose to be the world's richest nation. And nothing says we are suppose to be the arbiters of all things civilized. It simply says we, the people living here, are free. I'm far more concerned with our own government limiting those freedoms than I am with the loss of "superpower" status.

Someone is always the biggest kid on the block... would you prefer that someone be Russia or China?

BTW, we had almost 50 nations backing us up in terms of Iraq, so this whole "by ourselves" or "on our own" is just another tired and ill-conceived talking point.

We are a Superpower, like it or not.

And giving Iran a green light on their nuclear program is just unbelievable. The ramifications of this are what nightmares are made of.

We are not an island and our foreign interests keep us in the game, if we were an island we would not have to worry about it.

Funny, would you like to get back to reality?

Not until you stop oppressing the good people of Iran.

Maybe you just share what you must be smoking.

Always willing...but wouldn't that be a form of Communism? Wouldn't think you'd be down for that.

As long as it is not organized.

The growing schedule here at the co-op is quite organized...and there is one planned nude group burn/fish fry per month...but any other time is totally impromptu.

Guess we never learn anything from our own history.

Isolationism hasn't ever worked well for this country or the world. The isolationlist movement post WWI was an abdication of responsibility by this country and look what happened then.

BTW, does anybody REALLY think Israel is going to sit back and relax while Iran is doing this? What do they have to fear, afterall the Iranian prez only has called for the destruction of Israel. He couldn't have ulterior motives for seeking nukes right?

As soon as Iran starts building a reactor, look out for the Israel's jets over Tehran. They did it in Iraq when Saddam built a reactor in the early 80's

Again, History... learn from it.

Really? Thats why WWII went down?

The abdication of international leadership by the US post WWI (not ratifying the Treaty of Versalles, not joining the League of Nations) was definately a cause to the rise of fascism and totalarism. Something taught to me in International Relations class at good ol' Whooten Hall back in the day. The power vaccum post WWI caused by the defeat of the Central Powers, and the lack of leadership by the Allies not wanting any international entanglements caused some horrific conditions in the Weimer Republic. Situation was tailor made for someone like Hitler to come along and seize power.

Yes. It will be one country who decides whether or not Iran has nuclear power, and it will be Israel. To think otherwise is highly naive. Israel isn't going to sit by and wonder whether or not Iran's nuclear ambitions are pure or not while NATO and the UN sit aorund with their jars of diplomatic vaseline and circle jerk each other about it.

And, Obama's comment about settlements in the West Bank...how uneducated or willfully blind does he have to be about history to make that statement. Hello, McFly? Six Day War anyone? Jerusalem being shelled by muslim armies from the West Bank? Anyone? Anyone? Buehler? Buehler?

Seriously. Sometimes you've got to be amazed at the sheer stupidity of the Obama foreign policy demands on Israel. Amazingly naive and short-sighted. The whole speech. A complete and total disregard for reality.

Yes indeed,

If you want to know how Israel will react to nuclear reactors being built in Iran, just look at how they reacted when nuclear reactors were being buit in Iraq.

It's all a power and control thing with Obama. He figured out that he wouldn't be able to stop Iran and if he tried he would fail and look silly. So what did he do here? He gave them permission. Obama still in control all nice and wrapped up...problem solved.

Did you all feel that? The earth stopped spinning for just a moment. I give a standing ovation for this post.

And Keith, you get a one for this:

Where Barrak Hussein Obama is taking our country is scary. Does the man have no backbone? I just want him to stand for something and be a leader.

People have to be blind to not see how Obama has to control everything. Look at the Chrylser dealerships that have been closed down for instance. Some of the most successful in Houston, the Archer dealerships, were pick to close over those who's performance was much worse than Archers. Why? Archer is a big time Republican supporter. What this man is doing is scary, naive and stupid.

Support Obama or be cast aside is a scary situation. Past leaders have gained popularity much the same way Obama has and the results weren't pretty.
