Never a good idea to just go out shooting. Could have been a neighbor who went looking for his kid's lost frisbee.

I think we are missing details, and I am sure they will come. Even though the paper kind of reads that way "just go out shooting" it does not say he shot into the dark. Sounds like the home owner did the right thing.

I doubt he was looking for his kid's frisbee at 12:30 a.m., but I've got a problem with somebody opening fire on someone in their backyard before he presents himself as some kind of threat. As aforementioned, perhaps there are more details to come, but based on the facts presented, I've got a problem with it.

There a A LOT of details missing here, but let me say this, If you are in my backyard at 12:30 am, you are a threat. You being there means you've either scaled a 10 ft privacy fence or broken the lock on the gate. In either case you weren't invited and I'm going to take your presence as a threat to my property and/or my and my family's safety.

Now I wouldn't come out the door with guns blazing, but when I confront the intruder, if he does anything other than turn tail and run, there will be 9mm of lead headed his direction.

When I was a kid (including well into my teenage years), cutting through people's backyards to save a few minutes was common practice. Not saying that was right or smart, but I'd hate to see somebody killed for it.

It was the same with me when I was growing up, but that rarely happened at 12:30 pm.

Like I said....I wouldn't come out the door with guns blazing, but when I confront the intruder, if he does anything other than turn tail and run, there will be 9mm of lead headed his direction.
