Another fact that is never mentioned about that case. The only reason McDonald's said they kept the coffee that hot was because it made a fresh pot last longer. They would rather have risked burning someone than spend a few cents brewing a couple of fresh pots throughout the day.

The lady said the size of the flag was never mentioned. She claims it was the flag itself. I was'nt there, so I don't know for sure, but the idea that the flag was a point of contention at all is a mystery to me. Since when is displaying the American flag, in America, an issue? Only in America today are folks so "afraid" of offending someone that they will give up their country to be PC. Nice. Interesting how fast, once the media got the story, that the flag was allowed back up. Gee, why's that if it was right to take it down in the first place.

Perhaps this is nothing more than STUPIDITY and cowardness on the part of the hospital management to actually stand up for the lady and the flag. You know, probably could have been handled easily with a private meeting and a discussion over the size of the flag and an offet to get a smaller one for permanant display. But, no...cave in to the foreign national, go PC on everyone and make a big deal out of it. Go figure.

The Morning News had a story yesterday about a former Marine who has a big Marine Corps decal on the back window of his car, and his Home Owners Association is threatening to have his car towed and fine him if he doesn't remove it. That's not PC, that's just being power-wielding jerks who can flex their muscles. I know of lot of people on this board have had run-ins with HOA Nazis, but this instance is ridiculous.

Definitely sounds like a powertrip and some sort of attempt to maintain whatever levels of decorum this HOA has that somehow interfere with a veteran's choice of window decals. Frankly, he hard-earned the privilege to place that decal anywhere he pleases. He can put a giant plaque in his door of the EGA because he hard-earned the privilege to display that, too.

Other funny instances of HOA stupidity, all from the article:

Frisco homeowner who was threatened last summer with fines for parking his Ford F-150 pickup in his driveway, a violation of his HOA's rules requiring that non-luxury trucks be garaged.

Assuming his truck wasn't a complete mess, I don't see the issue. As a matter of fact, if it's not a safety issue or a vehicle that isn't able to move on its own power, I don't even see why HOAs think they can push people around on their own property. If it doesn't affect land value, then it shouldn't be an issue.

Nor is it as troublesome as the tales of Texas homeowners who've faced foreclosure for not paying their HOA dues.

I don't even understand how this works and I might need to be educated on this...but the financing of one's home is via a bank or other financial institution. John and Jane Anderson don't take out a home loan, mortgage or refinance through Frank and Bill down the street.

I gathered that. It's the "how does a minor missing of dues, regardless of amount, equal foreclosure on a house in the hundreds of thousands?" I guess it's somehow related to the HOAs being tied to developers, etc., etc., and it really not having to do with the people that live there. It's like apartment management but worse.

If there were no serious consequences, HOAs would never be able to collect the dues. My HOA dues pay for common areas like the playground and pool, but a letter I received last month states that the HOA is owed almost $100,000 in back dues. They seriously considered closing the pool for the summer.

I think they should be collected like taxes and PMI. Tack a little bit on to the mortgage and have the bank pay it out of escrow.

The attitude that "I am more religious, more American, more family oriented, and even a better person" than the rest is still another reason they are getting less votes. It turns people off.

This reaction seems to be part of a trend, yes this incident is off the wall and over the top, but still part of this PC trend the ACLU and several liberal leaders have been pushing for years. Where everyone is getting more and more nervous about what they say or how it could be interpreted.

I am not saying if you reside in the left camp vs the right camp you agree with where this PC silliness is taking us. I am just saying the PC crowd the leaders are parked squarely in the middle of the left camp. Just like you could say the anti-abortion group is parked in the middle of the right camp. I am cautiously in favor of first term abortion options and I do have conflicting feelings about it. I am against partial birth abortion. I am in the right camp as well, I just don't see eye to eye with the anti-abortion people. But I don't see the left camp giving the PC folks notice that they are not welcome.

--I think I agree with everything you said. I agree the decision should be made quickly or forget it. I also get tired of the right claiming the rest are pro-abortion.. . nothing could be further from the truth. Most people hate it and have mixed feelings and I too oppose late term ones. I also get VERY tired of the "right" claiming they are the patriotic religious group when they are not one bit more or better that the rest... Believe me that turns a lot of people off and solidifies people against them.... including me.
