Watching the race today, I got to wondering, what is the worst auto racing accident you have ever seen?

For me, it would have to be the accident at the end of the 1996 Toronto Grand Prix. With about 4 laps left, one of the other vehicles made contact with Jeff Krosnoff's wheel, sending him airborn. His car hit the fence, while in mid-air, and began doing flips (top over bottom) along the upper portion of the fence. On the third flip, the top of the car made contact with a tree just off of the course. Unfortunately, it was the cockpit which made the contact. The front of the vehicle disentgrated, the back of the car, was pushed off about 50 yards down the course, and the cockpit, slid to the other side of the course. Jeff Krosnoff was killed instantly when the car struck the tree. To make it even worse that what it already was, as Jeff's car became airborn, his front right tire struck a track worker in the head, killing him. I happened to see this live and figured there was no way the driver would survive. Unfortunately, I was right.

Any other crashes that come to mind? If you are not a racing fan, please no disrepectful comments, just hit the back button.
