Not even Dick Cheney can incite the blood-curdling rage of liberals at the sight of a sexy evangelical Christian. Paula Jones, Katherine Harris, Michele Bachmann, Sarah Palin and, most recently, Miss California, Carrie Prejean, have all come under a frenzy of attacks from liberals.

Christians are supposed to be fat, balding sweaty little men with bad complexions. It's liberals who are supposed to be the sexy ones. (I know that from watching "The West Wing" and all movies starring Julia Roberts.)

But sadly for liberals, in real life, the fat, balding sweaty little guy with the bad complexion is Perez Hilton and the smoking-hot babe is Carrie Prejean.

Funny stuff.

You go girl! Nice to see a young person with something to lose stand up for her beliefs on a very PC issue. Interesting how the media and the hollywood elite, etc. are treating her. And, it's always the conservatives who are said to be intolerant...facts are, it's the liberals you always see reflecting their intolerance when it comes to many of the issues facing this nation today. Seems that Miss California is taking a bunch of heat for simply exercising her right to hold her own beliefs. You think any of this would be playing out in the media if she had said that she favored guy marriage? Do you think the "conservatives" would be blasting her? Amazing how things really work sometimes, isn't it?

Is that really a fact?

I seem to recall a recent protest involving teabags that had some serious intolerant messages on placards. Messages that had nothing to do with taxes, I might add.

I have seen a lot of tv reports on this STUPID F&*@ING STORY. Not once have I seen anyone criticize her right to her beliefs. I've seen a lot of disagreement with her argument, but isn't that just another person's right to speak their mind? Or is it only ok to speak your mind when it is in agreement with you?

Jon Stewart said it best about her speech after "The Donald" let her keep her crown, er sash, "I completely agree with the woman I disagree with."

---Did you just say the Taliban is LIBERAL....?? Holy Moly .... I can't think of a group that is more conservative**.. the women totally have to cover themselves up including a screen over their eyes and if you don't believe as they so they try to kill you.... that is Liberal.... ??? Extremely Liberal is-- everything is allowed... drugs, alcohol, sexual misconduct etc. The Taliban doesn't just punish people for that... they kill them.

** One person may be more conservative than the Taliban.... Colter..... who even thinks the Taliban are Liberals..... unbelievable.

We're burying the lead here people. This writer thinks Paula Jones and Katherine Harris are "sexy."

He's nuttier than KRAM1 would be if a conservative soccer fan killed a liberal baseball fan.

--The writer is not a he... it is Ann Colter. You are right about the writer being completely nuts. Supposedly her own family can not even get along with her.

She is not calling the Taliban liberals, she is calling some select liberals Taliban.

-- That even makes less sense.

Colter: "It's not just Christianity – it's women liberals hate." Holy Moly and then she goes on to mention, Bill Clinton and John Edwards etc. and those terrrible liberals... It seems liking women was their problem. She is a complete idiot.

ok which is it... ?? She always calls Carter a Liberal but at the same time he is a Sunday school teacher and very much a Bible thumper.. pick one. According to her it is impossible to be both. ......LOL.. She is a joke.

Now that's funny! You get 100 stars for that one! If only Green Guy Bass had a sense of humor.

You're missing the point... she is calling the liberal attack groups Taliban-like, intolerant of the views and beliefs of others.

Over the top, yes. But she is not calling the Taliban "liberal"

He does...some people worship at the feet of Baseball Jesus though, so when you attack the great game its like getting that bearded carpenter's son in your crosshairs. People take that personally.

There are intolerant people on both sides of the fence, it's why I can't stand some deep conservatives (you know, the kinds with the dreams of militia in their heads) and the hard liberals (the ones that think we should dismantle the military). That said, either side could be painted as Taliban-like, Nazi-like, Darrel Dickey Run-Run-Run-like.

But no, I havent' heard anyone on any network take potshots at Carrie Prejean's religious beliefs. Actually, it's just been about the photos and how Trump let it all slide because it was never a huge deal to begin with.

Also -

Perez Hilton is a waste of space. I mean, yes we have a market for celebrity gossip in America. But this guy really serves no other purpose in life than to just sit there and be fat. Ugh.

What networks have you been watching? It's not so blatant as to "call her out" BECAUSE of her religious beliefs...it's the inference that she is anti-guy and anti-gay rights that smacks of too much PC-ness from the major networks. These folks are too smart and too clever to be THAT blatant about their bias. The real point here being that this would be absolutely no issue at all for the media to play up if she had just said how in favor she was of gay marriage. This whole thing started with her simply expressing her personal beliefs and giving an honest answer to a set-up question.

she IS anti-gay rights. And? Just as she's welcome to express her beliefs that are against gay marriage, those who feel differently have been welcome to express that as well.

No one has violated anyone else's rights. This is a total non-story, and waaaay too much time has been wasted on this.

She put herself willingly on a public stage and made controversial comments, and response from both sides has been nothing new, and as expected... supporters of this hot-button issue have attacked her stance in the media, and based on the support of those who agree with her she has received more fame, earning potential, and attention (something a pageant girl MAY be a bit interested in..) than she could have ever imagined. Everyone gets their platform, no one's rights are violated, and AJ Hammer has more material for Access: Douche. What a non-story timewaste. Have a beer.

She put herself willingly on a public stage and made controversial comments,...

And why were they "controversial comments"? They were "controversial" (your words) because they were not PC. Who said her rights were violated? That's my point here...they were not controversial, but were made to be so by the PC crowd. No one would have called them "controversial" in the media or on this board if she had said she favored gay marriage. In fact, had she said that, CaribbeanGreen, there would not have even been a thread on this board discussing it. I 100% agree with your point that this SHOULD have been a non-issue. It wasn't, that's where the problem lies.

YOU may not think they were controversial because you agree with them.... I mean, if someone on GMG.com said "Todd Dodge has proven to be a great hire" or "God, FC Dallas games are entertaining to white people", you wouldn't find them controversial at all... but most would.

In seriousness, of COURSE they were controversial... simply because they were on a very hot button issue, and were given on a very unexpected, unusual, national stage... likewise, any comment about abortion, capital punishment, the merits of the draw play, or Greg "the Hammer" Williams employment status, etc. would also be labeled controversial. It's not a bad word, it doesn't presume taking sides, it doesn't mean any new ground is broken, it doesn't mean wrong or right... and it's also not indicative of PC run wild....

Look, if I'm relaxing at a get together with friends, having a few beers, watching a ballgame, and there's some guy spouting off hot political/social opinions to people he hardly knows (there's always one...), it's gonna createcontroversy... or at least some awkward stares and a slow volume increase on the telly. And that goes no matter how much I agree with him or not.

But I suck at it. I'm tired of this stupid ol' penalty box. Why couldn't they just have posted links to white supremacist message boards?

Posted (edited)

YOU may not think they were controversial because the majority of this country including her own state of California, as well as the president of the U.S. agree with them....

Fixed that for you.

CG-

Where do you come to the conclusion Ms. California is anti-gay?? All she said was that she believed marriage should be between a man and a woman. That is not "bashing" anyone.

Evidently, you can not come up with inflamatory anti-gay statements she said so, as a "red liberal" you have to invent something that was not said or psychoanalize something that was not there. If you want inflamatory read and listen to the vile that your comarade in arms Perez Hilton has said. That is discrimination and you, CG, aint up in arms about what the "red left" says about the right but "only" what the "right" says. "Truth in Lending?" Not in your vocabulary. Now you can go have another beer.
