At Least Dodge Is Not As Paranoid As Ku's Mark Mangino

Are there that many spies in the Big 12 that the practice fields need protection from outside eyes and ears? Would someone really need to spy on Kansas?

Kansas Tries to Plug Security Leak

Kansas' $31 million upgrade to its football facilities was the source of much excitement in Lawrence, but that quickly subsided earlier this month when Mark Mangino marched his players onto two new practice fields. The big guy apparently realized that anybody could watch what the Jayhawks were doing.

Now the athletic department is going to spend another $90,000 in an attempt to give the team more privacy. Officials plan to plant 100 pine trees — ranging in height from 10 to 20 feet — around the fields beginning this week.

Mangino said Friday night that this has nothing to do with security, but associate athletic director Jim Marchiony told the Lawrence Journal-World otherwise.

“The real reason,” he said, “is just to allow for more privacy during practice with respect to how much can be seen and heard.”

Obese or not, he is a damn good football coach and I would gladly welcome here anyday of the week.

Yes, he's done a fantastic job at Kansas, but I don't see any reason to think the head coach for a successful Big 12 football team would become head football coach of UNT. But if he comes here with his football team for a home and home series sometime in the next few years, yes we should welcome him here.

I give the guy no more than 5-7 years and if he doesn't lose the weight he'll be dead. The guy can coach, tryue enough, but, man, he is a walking time bomb. He is in serious need of some help to get rid of the weight. You would think the guy would realize that. Shame, and it's his family that will suffer as he will be dead! It's really painful to watch this guy on the sidelines...doesn't move much, but you have to wonder how his body takes the abuse. I wish him well, but I also hope he qwakes up before it is too late.
