Why couldn't our softball field be that nice? At least we beat them 2-0 in that nice new stadium :)

Very nice. We need baseball (next). Then an indoor practice facility, then ......

You want to be more like Texas State? Then start by requiring all students live on campus the first two years. The school is able to bank off housing revenue and indoctrinate school pride at the same time.

I'm surprised they do that, and I would be surprised if UNT considered such a proposal. Should we just tell those in the DFW area that commuting students are not welcome? That students can't pool their money to rent a house or apartment together? That a returning veteran must go from one regimented environment to another? Anyway, I don't want UNT to be more like Texas State; I just want it to be a more successful UNT.

Why would UNT want to be more like Texas State ? Southland Conference ? 11,225 average football attendance ? FBS vs FCS ?

Schools that require freshmen (and probably freshmen and sophomores) to live on campus do allow exceptions in numerous cases, such as students living with their parents and students over age 21.

"That commuting students are not welcome"--a big time college atmosphere would dictate that as a true statement.

UNT actually requires freshmen to live on campus (though not too sure how strongly this is enforced).

From the current undergraduate catalog:

"Housing

All unmarried undergraduate students who have graduated from high school the semester prior to enrolling at UNT, who have completed fewer than 30 semester hours of university work (pre-college hours not included) and who enroll for 12 or more hours are required to reside in university-operated residence halls under a contractual room and board plan as long as space is available. Exemption may be granted by the director of housing in accordance with an established policy statement, which is available from the Department of Housing and Residence Life. "
