I am in the freight transportation/trucking business. Our company has over

100 employees working in and out of our large facility daily.

This morning, I was passing through the drivers break room next to the dispatch

office, where our drivers come in to pick up thier delivery assignments for the day.

One of our veteran drivers returned from Mexico last Sunday after visiting with his

family. This driver became nauseated after eating his breakfast sandwich, and

puked. Here is what happened- immedate panic from many of the other emplyee's!

I heard these remarks-

1. "He just came back from Mexico- he has the swine flu!"

2. "He's Hispanic, he's sick!" (Management called this person in for a sit down talk)

3. One staff person, actually called the owner of the company, demanding the owner

to send the driver home, and claimed the driver has the swine flu!

4. "We all have been exposed to the siwine flu, I am going home!"

5. "We need to disinfect the building, I do not want to get sick!

6. "We need hand sanitizers and masks!"

These are just a few of the remarks I heard this morning. I could not believe these

people were overcome with so much fear and panic! The remark about the driver

being Hispanic, makes me wonder if the same attitude is spreading around the country.

The media is causing this panic and the panic is spreading faster than the flu!

My wife works at a local school district. In some districts, parents are keeping their kids home because some "Spanish kids" are classmates of little Johnny. She had one mother walk in DEMANDING that the school "provide masks for her children to wear", and wanting to know "what y'all are doing to keep the kids safe from this flu?" Guess what, clueless--teach your kid to wash his hands and cover his mouth when he coughs, for a start. Or do you want the SCHOOL to teach that, too? <_<

News flash: YOU'RE the parent! If you're so scared--keep the kid home!

Between the dire travel warnings because of drug cartels and the nationwide flu panic, the 100 days Obama has been in office has created more national disdain for Mexico and its people than all other administrations combined. Rock on, sovereign soil!

Here's a useful Swine Flu website that can help determine if you have Swine Flu:

Do I Have Swine Flu?

People could follow the advice posted on bulletin boards around Dallas City Hall where I work, after 9-11, which stated in part "REMAIN CLAM".

I think they meant "REMAIN CALM", but nobody ever corrected it, so we've been "CLAM" ever since.

"He's Hispanic, he's sick!"

Christ. That deserves a great big WTF. This is like the people that think you can get swine flu from eating pork/ham/bacon/etc. Ugh.

If one was to get something from eating pork products that weren't cooked properly, I can assure you it's a lot worse than any flu. Speaking of things worse than this flu - someone correct me on this...

...but it's basically like any other flu short of the fact that far fewer carry an immunity to it, and that of the 4 primary medications, it shows resistance to 2, correct? Aside from that, it is no more lethal to the average healthy person than any other variant of the flu. The only people at risk of this are the people who are typically at risk from complications due to flu, right?

well probably, but this is a pandemic and could wipe out the whole world. The newspapers and the radio say we should be scared... so lets all be scared.

Does that mean that one us lucky guys might actually get to see if it's true when the woman says, "not even if you were the last man on Earth and it were strictly for the purposes of procreation!"?

Yeah, that's what I need. To survive the end of the world AND get shot down in flames by the last woman on earth. Talk about insult to injury.
